United Nations World Food Program 
  • Acted as World Food Program (WFP) focal point for all program / modalities within both Yida and Ajoung Thok refugee camps covering approximately 73,000 refugees across multiple nutritional modalities.
  • Implemented and analyzed assessments covering food security, nutrition and local market economies while creating corresponding concept notes and reviewing related proposals.
  • Acted as WFP initial focal point for proposal and budget reviews for all modalities/ programmes as submitted by potential cooperating partners (cps).
  • Oversaw (in conjunction with the Officer in Charge) the expansion and construction of the largest single location pre-positioning site in South Sudan (15K metric tons mixed commodity).
  • Implemented (including baseline data collection, program design, memorandum of understanding  designs, programme start-up, initial review and standard operating procedure creation) the largest single location milling programme in South Sudan.
  • Designed around the local milling economy the pilot program utilized a cash/voucher approach in order to boost the local economy while addressing issues related to food access and utilization and included the monthly distribution of approximatly 70,000 vouchers.

• Assisted in the identification of programming gaps specifically in Food and Nutrition programming.
• Provided technical advice on emergency Nutrition, Food, Hygiene and Sanitation programs from donors such as the World Food Program (WFP), United Nations International Children's Education Fund (UNICEF), United States Agency for International Development (USAID)   
• Provided programmatic capacity building for current Program Managers for WFP  funded Nutrition and Food Programing (all modalities).
• Provided support in emergency program development and implementation through the revision of current WFP budgets/proposals, advised on the successful design and implementation of community nutrition interventions, and the implementation and revision of current food programming for Unity State South Sudan.
• Acted as Samaritans Purse focal point for Food, Nutrition and Health inter organizational coordination with both I/NGOs and UN bodies, including UNHCR, UNICEF and WFP as well host and refugee communities; in order to beneficiary driven programing while ensuring minimal duplication in service provision to affected populations (Attend technical cluster/zone/hub meetings and interagency working groups in Unity State )
Compiled lessons learned from current responses for senior S. Sudan management; building on the existing organizational knowledge.
• Designed and Implemented a large multilateral study using Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) methodology to determine the root causes of malnutrition in Yida Refugee camp (population 70k) with specific regard to utilization and access of food commodities.
• Acted as Samaritans Purse focal point for WFP airdrop planning and emergency food interventions.

Haiti - Cholera Epidemic (Program Officer, Operational Support Cholera Epidemic)

  • Provided analysis and operational support for cholera clinic’s setup and function
  • Assisted in the daily coordination of operations staff.
  • Provided logistical system support while designing and implementing logistical tracking systems.
  • Acted as on the ground security focal point at clinics (including period preceding election riots 2010).
  • Provided technical support for the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) aspects of the cholera response

Tunisia/Libya Border - Refugee Crisis (Program Officer, Food Security)

  • Oversaw food security wet ration feeding program implementation during the Libya refugee crisis
  • Coordinated with both local authorities as well the volunteer community for effective respons.
  • Facilitated rapid assessments of all sectors including gender based violence, wat/san and food security.
  • Represented Samaritans Purse (SP) in Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) run cluster meetings.
  • Created concept notes for Libya intervention in the east of the country

Kenya/Somalia Border - Drought Crisis (Program Officer, Emergency Program Development Manager)

  • Successfully created concept and proposal for cash for work (cfw)  programming among host populations in Liboi, Garissa and Dadaab divisions, including acting as the lead on 1.2 million dollar proposal for CIDA.
  • Coordinated with UNICEF and local authorities in the successful implementation of a multi - district emergency nutrition intervention.
  • Successfully identified nutrition and food programming gaps across Garissa district resulting in large scale nutrition and CFW programming for multiple modalities.
  • Facilitated rapid assessments of all sectors including WASH , nutrition and food security.
  • Represented SP in initial OCHA and UNHCR cross border forum for emergency drought intervention.
  • Identified and coordinated with relevant stakeholders, including NGOs, UN agencies, government ministries and community leaders in the creation and implementation of nutrition, health and WASH programs.

  • Coordinated a 3.7 million dollar budget aimed at community rehabilitation.
  • Revised programming budgets for both multi -sectoral budgets.
  • Created, collected and disseminated monthly reports and work plans for all activities in the western region of South Sudan submitted weekly/bi-weekly and monthly reports, while monitoring and evaluating program progress.
  • Oversaw and coordinate the activities of approximately 200 permanent staff (both expat and national) from varying sectors across a 5 state region.
  • Created and implemented logistical systems, while decreasing the annual cost associated with procurement by 30%.
  • Acted as lead on the creation of budgets for development oriented projects ranging from 1.7 to 3.2 million dollars. Acted as agency lead on emergency assessments in conflict affected locations in Lake State

Yida Joint Household Assessment: LQAS Survey of Key Household Indicators Related to Current Malnutrition Trends.

To assess ongoing malnutrition issues in Yida, which are compounded by limited food access and utilization, poor hygiene and sanitation and poor health-seeking behavior, study was conducted to collect basic household indicator data with which to provide better treatment and prevention of malnutrition for children under five years old.
