Worked under Department of Energy FastForward contracts to study exascale computing architectures and conduct research on elements critical to building the next generation supercomputer. Ported hydrodynamics, molecular dynamics, and neutron transport applications to run on AMD APU hardware and GEM5 simulators. Worked as an interface between the DOE and other AMD research teams. Used a combination of C, C++ 11, Fortran, OpenMP, OpenACC, MPI, and OpenCL to complete this research.

ForeFlight, LLC
Created interfaces and drivers for avionic cockpit hardware used by the ForeFlight iPad application. Identified and fixed several outstanding bugs found in previous hardware drivers. Built a standard API and put in place a process for hardware vendors, allowing the construction of device specific drivers without the need for direct instruction from ForeFlight.

Debugged, developed, and tested software and hardware for the newly created precision guided system using a combination of Matlab and C/C++. Development projects included maintaining the custom embedded Linux kernel, modification of hardware drivers, and adding additional features to the iOS applications. Proposed and implemented two testing platforms, one of which was a high reliability autonomous robot used to test accuracy.

Created a dependable Build Verification Process for the iOS Sametime software suite, which ran automatically after daily software builds. Built the framework using a combination of Python, Bash scripts, Objective-C, Rational Team Concert, Java, and Javascript. Met project guidelines of creating a testing framework that was both expendable and had tests that were intuitive to both developers and testers. IBM extended the internship after the project was complete and moved me on the development team to work on the iOS Sametime mobile application.

Created the curriculum and devices required for teaching a single lab unit on a spring-mass-damper system. The prototype boards were created using National Instruments PCB designing software, while content was created using LabView. Assisted with the levitation lab unit used to teach closed-loop feedback theory.
