Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Worked with a faculty member on derivatives of Chitosan Oligosaccharides (COS), which could improve the productivity of plants. Selectively modified the O-hydroxyls of COS by one-pot reaction. Successfully synthesized and characterized four derivatives such as O-linoleoyl COS and O-salicyl COS.

Study of Self-Healing Coatings

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA

December 2013 –Worked with a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering to produce a smart coating containing microcapsules that could self repair cracks. Microcapsules contain healing agent and release it when the coating is broken. Microcapusules based on different healing machanisms were studied. This project is currently participated in a college competition of EPA’s P3 Program.Stock Market Simulation Project

November 2013 –Worked in a team of four students to learn the basic principles of the stock market. Each person selected a trading strategy such as swing trade or trade the news. Traded with virtual capitals for ten weeks. Eventually results from different strategies will be compared and analyzed how to invest wisely.Study of TiO2 Nanotube Layers

April 2013 –Worked with a graduate student in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Successfully anodized a series of TiO2 nanotube layers under different conditions. Currently working on an article about how these different parameters affect the morphology and electrochemical properties of TiO2 nanotubes.

About Me

I was born in Japan and grew up there. When I was 11 years old I moved back to China, and finished my middle school and high school. Now I am attending a college in the United States.

I  had some excellent research experiences. Currently I am engaging in two different research programs outside of my courses. I spend a considerable amount of time every week and enjoy them a lot.
