With three decades of experience as an educational administrator, Xavier Romano presently heads the X.E. Romano Consultancy and focuses on improving student retention, student services, and student satisfaction at the collegiate level. Xavier Romano is a member the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, for which he served as a board member from 2006 to 2009. The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) is preparing to host its 2014 Assessment and Persistence Conference, scheduled to take place June 19 to June 21, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio, Texas. In an effort to improve student learning, encourage success, and improve the quality of education, the conference will address such issues as how to engage students utilizing intentional persistence programming; gain an in-depth understanding of assessment protocols; and encourage educational achievement for children in underserved neighborhoods. Established in 1918, the NASPA is dedicated to the advancement of the field of student affairs. Serving approximately 13,000 members in 25 countries worldwide, the organization is a valuable resource in the areas of advocacy, research, and professional development.
