Lead Pastor

Snohomish Community Church

I came to SCC as part of an intentional planned transition to Lead Pastor. The founding pastor wished to transition to a support role which was accomplished after one year. Since taking over as Lead Pastor in 2007 the church has accomplished the following:

  • Refined the vision and strategy of the church for moving into the future
  • Growth from around 600 in regular attendance to 900+
  • Completed a successful capital campaign to build a 10,000 square foot addition to church facility
  • Hired a Family Pastor, Youth Pastor, Worship Pastor and Adult Ministries Pastor
  • Initiated a multisite/church planting network with the first Campus scheduled to launch in the Fall of 2012
  • Implemented a leadership development process driven by a small group coaching model.

As the Lead Pastor, in addition to common Pastoral responsibiities, my primary emphasis include:

  • Oversee Staff: Five Pastoral Staff as direct reports with Four Administrative Assistants; Five Part-time directors; Three Part-time facilities personnel also on staff
  • Primary Preaching Pastor
  • Primary vision developer and communicator
  • Oversee church-wide communication pieces
  • Oversee Church Planting Team
  • Oversee Leadership Development Team.
2000 - 2006

Pastor of Spritual Formation

Hill Country Bible Church

For the first three years at HCBC I served as the Pastor of SIngle Adult Ministries and Men's and Women's Ministries. My role with the Men's and Women's Ministry included the following:

  • Men’s Ministry: 400 men involved in a weekly study and a yearly retreat, father-son campout and a father-daughter campout
  • Women’s Ministry: over 450 women involved in weekly study and a yearly retreat as well as a Christmas outreach averaging over 2,000 women.

As the first Singles Pastor at HCBC, we developed the Singles Ministry including:

  • Single Purpose: a ministry for 40+ singles averaging 45 people
  • SingleLife: a ministry for those in their late 20’s-30’s averaging 55 people
  • Singles Celebration: an outreach averaging over 250 single adults weekly that included promotion and production of concerts from 250 to 1500 people with nationally known Christian artists
  • Singles Support Groups: Divorce Care, KIDS Hope and a Single Parent Ministry
  • StillPoint: a ministry for those in their early to mid-twenties that included an experiential worship and teaching/preaching environment. This ministry started from ground zero and grew to about 120 connected in an ongoing basis in its first two years.

After 3 years I transitioned to the role of Pastor of Spiritual Formation. In that role, I oversaw the following:

  • Spiritual Formation Process and Seminars: four seminars designed to equip people to take their next step spiritually through increased commitments to Christ, his family of believers and our mission in this world
  • Adult Education Classes: worked with a lay teaching team to develop core classes that built on the concepts presented in the four seminars
  • Life-on-life Discipleship: implemented one-on-one coaching strategies, basic training, vision casting and resources for reproducing disciples
  • Volunteer Mobilization: developed and implemented church-wide initiatives to mobilize people for ministry service according to their resource mix as God designed them
  • Center for Applied Theology (CAT): a lay training institute offering ministry leaders and workers the opportunity to receive advanced training in theology, biblical studies and leadership skills with an ultimate goal of strengthening the leadership core of the church and fueling the church planting movement of Hill Country Bible Church.
1998 - 1999


Christ Community Church

Served as the church’s first Pastor. As the only staff member I was responsible for development and implementation of all ministries. I wrote the church constitution, formed the initial committees for the church. My regular teaching schedule included a Sunday morning and Sunday evening sermon and a midweek men’s group. The church in a town of about 6,500 grew from 45 members to 60 in the year I was the pastor.

Director of Christian Education and Church Administration

Northlake Bible Church

This part-time position while in seminary was concerned with the administrative responsibilities and pastoral duties associated with the day-to-day operation and educational program of Northlake Bible Church.

1990 - 1993

Single Adult Pastoral Intern

First Evangelical Church

Oversaw the establishment and development of the post-college age single adult ministry. Responsible for entire ministry including budgeting, teaching, leadership development and vision casting. Ministry began with four and grew to over 70 with full range of programs.
