As the managing director for enterprise architecture at Microsoft Corp. he is responsible for the creation of strategy, frameworks and guidance for Microsoft. This is executed through partnerships with business units, IT CIO leadership, the CTO and through external collaboration in executive briefings, standards bodies, events and publications.

  • Manager of a team of architects that create solution architecture that look at key architecture areas such as Green IT, Software as a Service, Composite Applications, Virtualization and Legacy Migration.
  • Manages the Enterprise Architecture Portal that drives millions of unique visitors to pragmatic guidance on Enterprise Architecture.
  • Creator of the Enterprise Architecture Toolkit (EATK) that provides a solution accelerator and guidance to fundamentally change how Enterprise Architecture is performed.  Notable industry recognition has been given from the press and analyst communities and subsequently been adopted by fortune 100 companies. 
  • Drove the Enterprise Architecture training that is consumed world-wide by the Microsoft Consulting Services Division.

Enterprise Architect

Founding member and co-creator of the enterprise architecture office. Responsible for ensuring uniformity of designs and technology decisions across the enterprise through proven architecture methods such as architecture review board, standards creation, building of reference architectures and ensuring alignment to the business through principles, policies and standards.  He owned and was ultimately accountable for a series of mission critical solutions in the application portfolio such as wire transfer, check processing, credit, and loan systems.

  • Lead Enterprise Architect on the re-architecture of Check Processing, Wire and ACH systems that lead vendor selection, system architecture, co-development with partners, risk mitigation activities and solution road-mapping. Cumulatively resulting in 25 million dollars ROI, enabling an estimated 18 million in revenue from new customers over a period of 3 years.
  • Aided CIO, CTO and corresponding SVP’s to create IT strategies and roadmaps that included: SOA strategy, E-Commerce platforms, SSO and platform roadmaps.
  • Member of the Architecture Review Board that reviewed every technology decision at the bank.

  • Created Rating and Quoting engine that leveraged n-tier based architecture spanning Windows Server and IBM Mainframes.
  • Created trend analysis system that integrated into public facing site GreatAmericanDrivers.com that led it to being the top insurance website in 2002.

Consultant to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

  • Acted as technical lead and sole developer of security management system that was the centralized management for all user identities for provisioning / de-provisioning, authentication and authorization of intranet based applications. Gathered requirements and designed architecture to create a web-based application using n-tier architecture with ASP, Visual Basic, Peoplesoft, and Oracle 8i technologies.

Consultant to Sente Group

  • Developed asset-tracking portal used nationally to inventory parts sold throughout the United States for a hardware manufacturer. Migrated from Microsoft Access database forms and reports to an ASP 3.0 internet site.

Consultant to Prograde

  • Developed Visual Basic client server application that used Microsoft SQL server and HL7 (Medical encryption algorithm) technologies to be used to automate physician alerting, workflow and electronic paperwork. Used the latest technologies to create a publish and subscribe message broker for alerting mobile and desktop devices.

Consultant to Cincinnati Financial Corporation

  • Developed test automation system that aided in the management and execution of personnel, tests and testing processes
  • Created defect tracking system, which used a Visual Basic Presentation Layer and a Microsoft Access Data Services Layer.
  • Created a Java based intranet portal for the testing division of the company that served as a content repository and collaboration mechanism

QSS Information Systems

  • Created a wireless application that was developed in Power Builder, which tracked inmates with bar-coded ID cards and displayed a picture of the inmate that swiped before he/she would obtain a meal. This application was implemented in eight prisons to quantify eating habits and ensure security in lunchrooms. 
  • Implemented document recognition solutions.
