Campaign Consultant

Advised multiple political campaigns on strategy, messaging and grass roots efforts during election cycle. Clients included candidates for federal, state and local office in four cities and two states.                                                                                                                                                    

  • Developed and implemented press strategy for successful congressional campaign in top ten media market, including coordinating press coverage for tour with U.S. Senator.

Led cross-functional team of ten in the development and implementation of strategic leadership platforms for clients.

  • Led team that developed messaging matrices for both national and international clients in the areas of high tech, healthcare, commercial space and homeland security.
  • Managed agency's sector practice to become a strategic communications leader on the emerging space economy.
  • Established a thought leadership platform for a leading component supplier, resulting in a dramatic increase in its visibility in the business community and expansion of its industry leadership role. Led team that incorporated competencies of newly acquired business segments into overall messaging. Team was also tasked to develop a new corporate name and identity to reflect its new leadership role. The rise in brand visibility and integrity contributed to an increase in shareholder value and acquisition by a fortune 100 company. Was elevated from account manager to director due to leadership and strategic vision.
  • Managed the repositioning of a long-term government contractor to a broader customer base.  Worked with client to expand its market from one prime customer to four horizontal and three vertical markets. Work included value proposition development; market and customer validation; vertical and horizontal target market identification; messaging development and web site redesign.
  • Managed business development efforts for agency president, including leading monthly executive business development meetings, lead identification, and outreach.

Guided and coached teams of up to six individuals in developing and implementing integrated communications and business development plans for clients. Work included story line development, media targeting, story pitching, and client preparation.

  • Directed team that developed internal messaging for stakeholders prior to public rollout of leadership platforms.
  • Led a team that developed an internal roll-out plan to introduce a new executive thought leadership platform to 1200 plus employees prior to external implementation.

  • Developed leadership platform for a preeminent manufacturer of gas detection equipment for industrial, environmental, military, and security applications. Built messaging matrix around key technology issues and helped develop the company's leadership platform.  Secured briefings with the technology editor for the Los Angeles Times, leading to a feature article.
  • Managed development and launch of multiple industry-specific coalitions to evangelize issues and further business development goals. Development included writing charter, executive board recruitment, and coalition management.

Led offices that included both legislative and administrative functions for members of the state legislature during four legislative sessions.

  • Developed both legislation language and strategy to pass the legislation. Work included: research; bill review and editing; working with member and legislative council in developing legislation; bill filing and monitoring; presentation preparation; and legislative summaries.
