One year internship including 6 months with a private botanic garden in Palm Beach County and 6 months at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Duties include propagation, mapping plant locations, accessioning new plants, maintaining the garden (via pruning, trimming, application of pest control products and planting), working with garden volunteers and completion of an independent project at the end of the internship. My independent project consists of taking an existing plot, inventorying the plot, determining what plants need to be removed, maintained or planted in keeping with the mission of the plot, creating a brochure conveying the expedition stories associated with the plants in the plot, executing the maintenance plan in the plot and giving a presentation on the project.
