I seek to bring my passions and skills for social responsibility and communications to an organization with a mission that I believe in. My professional and academic work has been grounded in the belief that the best communication, whether used to organize people around a cause, to raise funds for a non-profit, provide education around public policy, or provide marketing for a corporation, is authentic, engaging, and adds value to people's lives as it connects us with each other. It is from the perspective of the shared human experience of story and storytelling that I approach communications, technology, social media, marketing and public relations.

Published article in a senior adult magazine featuring a senior citizen rock climber. Article was featured on the cover of the publication.
Along with my interest in social media and new media, I am an avid rock climber, cyclist, and songwriter. I enjoy hiking with my wife and two dogs, urban cycling, exploring the outdoors, organic gardening (though I'm a novice), and good coffee.

As owner of Will Boyd Media Solutions, I provide non-profits and other value-driven organizations with social media consulting and new media production services that help the organization organize, engage, and motivate its constituents in socially responsible and sustainable ways. As a part of my work, I help organizations reconnect with their core story and work with them to develop their voice as an organization. 2009 - Present
Social Media Coordinator
As Social Media Coordinator for the BEHRINGER and BUGERA brands, I have been charged with creating and managing a social media presence on sites such as MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Along with being the social media voice for these two international brands, I have developed a Social Media policy to govern all of the company's activities in the social media sphere, as well as provided training on blogging and social media engagement to the company. Furthermore, I have conceptualized and implemented online promotional strategies that include contests and giveaways that have increased brand awareness and customer engagement, negotiated the purchase and implementation of a search-optimized blog platform, researched and implemented email marketing solution, and negotiated and implemented an online monitoring solution that allows the company to track and engage online conversations about the brands. Other duties of my position include updating the BEHRINGER and BUGERA websites with new content and being the primary analyst of Google Analytics data.

Adjuster - Internet Claims Specialist
During my time as internet claims specialist for the Southeast and Midwest regions, I authored and implemented the company's first training program for internet claims associates that included an interactive computer-based training course, training manual, one-on-one training, and supplemental training materials hosted on the company's intranet. Along with developing training curriculum, I provided the internet claims supervisor and regional claims director with communication strategies and presentations used to communicate the work and progress of the internet claims team to company leadership in departmental and regional meetings. I regularly gave presentations to management on behalf of the claims department director on the progress of the internet claims team. I also worked with the region's internet claims supervisor to develop goals and track performance of the internet claims team. Using Microsoft Excel, I authored and maintained a spreadsheet that provided real time tracking and analysis of internet claims team metrics. This spreadsheet was hosted on the company's intranet and was accessible to all members of management.

Supervised a team of 10-15 employees in the loading of packages on to feeder trailers. I was responsible for communicating the company's expectations and goals and training employees in the areas of safety, productivity, and quality.

Bachelor of Arts
I have recently completed the degree requirements for a bachelors of arts degree at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont, and will be taking part in graduation ceremonies on March 29. As a part of those requirements, I completed a senior study that produced a critical work titled "Massaging the Medium: The Role New Media and Social Technologies Play in Sustainable Marketing and Public Relations." This work borrowed concepts from the environmental sustainability movement and applied them to the world of media and marketing to show how social technologies and new media can be used by organizations to provide a sustainable and socially responsible way to tell their stories to the world.
Accompanying the critical piece, I also produced and continue to produce a video podcast called Bikeable Planet. Bikeable Planet is all about helping people become more comfortable bicycle commuting. I used the podcast to demonstrate how such media can be used by organizations as marketing and outreach through partnerships with the Bicycle Alliance of Washington and Gregg's Cycles of Seattle.
