Student Health and Counselling Center

I am currently designing a curriculum for a support group for students based on relationship building skills.I am also involved with writing articles, attending meetings, and assisting in raising student awareness for issues such as men’s health, suicide prevention, and psychological disorders.Along with my supervisor, I am organizing a panel of professors for an open discussion of certain topics of interest to the Counseling Center such as the mentoring relationship between students and professors, the importance of spiritual growth during college, and the challenges of inter-faith dialogue in an academic setting.I have recently been asked to create a survey to distribute to faculty members concerning their involvement in mentoring relationships with students. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

As the assistant activities coordinator, I helped to organize events that would either increase physical health through physical activities, or recreational activities such as memory enhancement exercises. In working alongside professionals, I had the opportunity to attend to the daily needs of patients by serving lunch, stepping into a leadership role during exercises, assisting with memory recall activities, or assisting the staff with small errands.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Jul 2007 - Sep 2007

Teaching assistant

Cedar House School. 2301 Colony Crossing Place

I had the opportunity to work with different age groups of children from infants to ten year olds.I was able to assist with caring for young children, supervising activities, transitions between activities, preparation for meals, maintaining a clean and safe environment for younger children, and assisting with learning activities for older children. During this volunteer experience, I gained a better understanding of child development and learning by observing and interacting with several different age groups.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
