A psychiatrist for over 20 years, Dr. Wayne Macfadden currently serves as a Senior Medical Director for Roche Pharmaceuticals. Prior to his present position, he functioned as a principal investigator and sub-investigator in clinical trials for Princeton Medical Institute. Dr. Macfadden actively contributes to pharmaceutical research and has worked at Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, and SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, holding director and associate director positions in medical affairs and clinical safety. A prolific writer, he has contributed to a variety of medical and academic publications regarding his research and findings. Dr. Macfadden has authored 18 articles and contributed to three book chapters, and he writes as a reviewer for the journal Bipolar Disorders. In addition to his contributions in research, Dr. Macfadden has practiced as a psychiatrist since 1990. He most recently served as an attending psychiatrist with University Medical Center at Princeton. From 1998 to 1999, he worked at Virtua Health as the staff psychiatrist and director of substance abuse treatment services. Prior to his year at Virtua Health, Dr. Macfadden spent eight years at Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He worked with the VA as a staff psychiatrist and also served as the unit chief of the inpatient detoxification and inpatient dual diagnosis units. Dr. Wayne Macfadden possesses a license as a medical examiner and doctor for the state of New Jersey. He has earned the status of Diplomate with the National Board of Medical Examiners and the National Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and he is qualified to practice addiction psychiatry.
