As an ambitious professional I have tailored my future by gaining valuable practical and theoretical experience. Excelling in a team-based environment, I have shown strong leadership and interpersonal skills while being a top, goal-orientated employee. I started my career with a few lower value projects which allowed me to demonstrate my skills and I earned the opportunity to deliver DEFRA's highest value multi-million moves project so far.

Work experience

Mar 2016Present

Assistant Project Manager

Mott MacDonald LTD

HS2 Strategic Advisory - Potentially a multi-million project (September 2018- Present)

  • Acting as a work package manager I was brought into this project to undertake a feasibility study on potential options and methods of delivering a research facility (new-built or conversion)
  • My role involves investigating several sites to identify the ideal cost, timescale, quality, and branding solution.
  • Within this strategic advisory role I have been given further responsibility to manage a team of designers and cost consultants to deliver their services accordingly, so an adequate brief for each option can be presented to our client within an accelerated programme.
  • The progression plan for this consultancy service is that once we complete the study I am to manage the construction/conversion of the research facility.

DEFRA Relocation Project - £13M (February 2017 - Present)

  • When I joined the Project the proposed design had gone over the budget allowance which led me to my first task in Managing Design Scope and Delivery. By arranging and leading several Value Engineering exercises with my design team and the stakeholders, we managed to reduce costs while still meeting the user requirements.
  • As a part of the Stakeholder Management services I was to provide, I identified the need of creating a clearer CTC clearance process and its time-frames. By closely liaising with DEFRA's security team, we created a process map to present to the Project Team which is now successfully implemented to provide CTC clearance for over 2000 employees.
  • Change Management and Control is a vital workstream in this project due to its size and number of stakeholders. Changes to this project may result in excessive  costs and large delays. I presented and implemented a change process to assist with change justification. This currently prevented a number of unnecessary changes potentially costing over £2M.
  • NEC & JCT Contract Administration
  • Project Resource Management
  • Moves Planning and Management take an important part of delivering this Project due to the enhanced security of the new building. Fine programming was required to precisely align activities and get buy-in from the engaged sub-contractors. We are currently mid-way through the physical move and already receive excellent feedback from high level stakeholders and end users. By allowing sufficient time for planning and early engagement of the related parties we managed to increase the number of DEFRA employees moved each weekend twice compared to their previously most successful move.
