Veronica Malinao

Primary Teacher

My personal philosophy of teaching

I have been drawn to the realm of teaching largely due to the incredible support and values instilled in my own children regarding their schooling life and the challenges they have faced early on to become more confident, independent learners. I have developed a passion for providing educational opportunities for all learners to engage with subjects and to promote a lifelong love of learning. I want to instil in my students that applying themselves and taking responsibility for their learning will provide them with the tools to succeed in all aspects of life. I will endeavour to provide a supportive, safe and nurturing environment for my students to develop confidence in their abilities, strengthen their self-esteem and encourage their potential.

As an educator I would extend children’s natural curiosity of learning through inquiry based learning projects and provide opportunities to engage in productive group work. I would create fun and engaging lessons to cater for all students utilising ICT's and hands on learning while supporting the needs of the learners.

Personal Skills

While studying and raising my family I have been a volunteer for STEPS as a Peer Support leader for people with an Acquired Brain Injury. I have also volunteered at St Benedict’s within the classroom as a parent helper through the multi-lit program and for a few days a term in addition to my required practical experience. Prior to my studies I worked in various roles as an enrolment officer, office co-ordinator, editorial assistant and receptionist for companies including Macarthur Anglican School, Perpetual Investments and Emap Australia. I feel being highly organised in my personal and professional life will help with my role as a teacher as well as my caring and compassionate nature to go above and beyond to help my students to reach their potential. My professional experience reports are available upon request.
