  • Won 2015 award for best boutique in Westmeath.

  • Act in a consultancy role regarding business development & marketing aspects.
  • Handle the financial side of the business, liaising with management, accountants and review of weekly accounts.
  • Provide assistance and advice during the buying season (bi-annually), with trips to Dusseldorf, London and Paris when required.

  • Managed and generally oversaw the business for over 35 years – initially a general drapery, but which later grew with a specialist focus on menswear (including shoes) and ladies wear.

  • Solid and proven retail experience - primary sales person on the menswear side, highly experienced in interacting with and advising customers, with sales generally having increased year on year.
  • Strong focus on developing new business, maintaining good relationships with existing customers and gaining repeat business wherever possible, linked to which I am good at building relationships across different levels and with people from all social or cultural backgrounds.
  • Employed several sales assistants to work on the ladies and menswear side respectively – responsible for all employment issues, wages etc.
  • Key motivator within a team setting and able to get colleagues to perform well above their average level.
  • Primary buyer on the menswear and footwear side – worked with agents in different parts of Ireland over the years, as well as the UK. For certain labels we ordered 6 months in advance of the new season, for others on an as needed basis.
  • Developed a good rapport with relevant contacts for dealing with repeats, returns etc.
  • Handled the accounting aspects of the business in conjunction with the company accountant and kept daily accounts.
  • Won Drapers award for customer service.
  • Developed a loyalty management system.
  • Coordination with external marketing advisors, dealing with the review and approval of advertisements (use of radio, newspapers, social media (e.g. facebook) and sponsorship of events).

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

  • Primary interests include following sport, particularly the GAA, reading & spending time with family / friends.
