Skills

Mac & PC OS

Mac user for 6 years. PC user for 6 years before that.

Planning Center Online

Planning Center Online is one of the most useful services offered to worship teams anywhere.  I have 4 years experience in all aspects of Planning Center Online.

DAW Platforms

Reason- Proficient ProTools- Semi Proficient Sonar- Semi Proficient   I feel one of my most valuable assets to a worship team is my ability to supplement a song where supplement is needed.  Some songs just need strings to set the atmosphere.  Some songs need b-3 and "clav" to create the groove.  When those players are not present, I am experienced at recording those instruments, via midi recording. Also, there are times that a choir needs some help in beefing up their sound.  I am experienced at taking two or three voices, recording, layering, and mixing to use in live service environments. There are a few examples of these processes in my portfolio.

Keys/B-3/Rhodes

I love gospel, funk and jazz.  I have spent the last 6 years building my skill in these areas.  You can see an example of these styles in my portfolio.

Musical Improvisation

Conducting

I will say most of my "experience" in conducting has been in private, but I studied in college, and I am enthralled by the beauty of conducting.  I have some real experience from my time at First Euless in conducting choral pieces, orchestral pieces, and combined pieces.

Arranging & Orchestration

I have been arranging for 4 years.  Arranging is a passion of mine, and a hobby as well.  I love the idea of making music available to ensembles that need it for a different purpose, in a different style, or for a different set of instruments.  Many of my arrangements have been played in churches across the state.  I have completed hundreds of rhythm/lead sheets, many choir arrangements, string arrangements, and a few pieces for full orchestra. You can see examples of this work in my portfolio.

Vocals

I was classically trained for 4 years in high school. Two years with my music pastor, Curtis Brewer, and two years with world renown dramatic tenor, David Corman.  I was a three year all-state bass two in Texas.

Piano

I started playing as a young child, started lessons at 8, and took serious professional lessons through college.  I'm an excellent sight-reader, proficient at reading chord changes (pop and jazz), a very good accompanist (much experience with individuals and choirs), and an experienced pop/rock/jazz player in an ensemble.  I am familiar with many styles and techniques of keyboard instruments.
