As the Rock Climbing Coordinator at YMCA Camp St. Croix my primary responsibility was to supervise and facilitate the Rock Climbing program. Before camp i was certified in Top Rope Site Management under (AMGA guide) Pat Mackin through Vertical Endeavors as well as CPR, AED, Lifeguard and First Aid. Along with the Trail Coordinators I was responsible for planning rock climbing trips to Taylor's Falls, MN, Shovel Point, MN, Devil's Lake, WI as well as day trips to Vertical Endeavors. I was also responsible for training our counselors proper risk management techniques in order to belay children and run high ropes elements. While on trail I was responsible for facilitating climbing for groups of children in the safest possible manner. Driving the camp vehicle, paying for campsites, maintaining positive relations with park officials, managing the setting up of top rope climbs, facilitation of safe climbing, promoting children's growth as climbers and individuals, camping, starting fire, cooking and rationing food, promoting the four core values of respect, responsibility honesty and caring as well as managing any behavioral or safety issues that might arise were all duties of the Rock Climbing Coordinator on trail. Back at Camp, I was part of a lead staff team responsible for the day to day logistics of running a summer camp. Supporting the Program Director, the other lead staff as well as the counselors and children of the camp in a wide variety of duties was part of the responsibility of the Rock Climbing Coordinator at camp.
