Bachelor's of Arts

University of Minnesota

I spent a semester of my junior year in florence, italy studying art and art history.  This was one of the most influential times of my life.  It taught me to live in a more simplistic manner and take in the small joys of the day.  It also helped me to develop a passion for world travel while broadening my cultural perspective.

As an Outdoor Education Instructor my two primary responsibilities include teaching Environmental Education (EE) and Team Building (TB) to a wide variety of participants.  The participants range in age, ethnicity and socioeconomic status and each group requires the ability to adapt in order to be successful.  EE groups are typically 5th to 8th graders from all over the twin cities.  The TB groups range in age from elementary age to corporate groups of adults.  EE curriculum focuses on the diverse ecosystems we have at Camp St. Croix.  It is my responsibility to teach the EE curriculum in an engaging way while promoting the four core values of responsibility, honest, caring and respect throughout the groups time at camp.  The Team Building curriculum focus on using communication, cooperation and caring to strengthen group unity.  It is my responsibility to facilitate TB groups in low team (problem solving) elements and high team elements (climbing tower and high ropes courses) safely and debrief the way they used communication, cooperation and caring after each element.  As a member of the Outdoor Education Staff I am also responsible in helping out in whatever way we need to provide the best possible customer service to our groups.  During my Outdoor Education career i was also certified as a Wilderness First Responder.

New Media Intern

Organizing for America

Organizing for America was a grassroots political organization that helped to promote Barack Obama's political campaign. Under the direction of the Community Organizing for the Minneapolis area, I was responsible for creating a short video illustrating minnesotan's views on health care reform.  I interviewed a wide variety of people from minneapolis from students to politicians.  I was able to attend and shoot footage at political rallies.  I compiled and edited the footage to form a short video to be used for the health care reform campaign.  I was able to upload it on Organizing for America's Youtube channel and it was approved in Washington D.C.  I was formally awarded at a North Minneapolis rally in which my video was played in front of an audience.  Along with other OFA volunteers I was also thanked on a conference call from Barack Obama himself.
