Internet Multimedia Developer

  • Maintained and enhanced CD Label Generator (CDLG), a web application that is used by IBM internal customers around the world to create artwork files for CD and DVD labels for IBM products. Key step in final packaging process for release of IBM software products. Ensured tool's stability and consistency. Provided statistics of usage (number of hits for each IBM brand) and collected customers' information for surveying per department's request. Documented known and potential problems, defects and suggested solutions, best practices for future development, improvement. Technologies applied included: Java, JSP, CorelDRAW, Component Object Model (COM), PHP, LDAP, XML, Rational Application Developer, WebSphere Application Server, Concurrent Version System (CVS), HTML, CSS, AJAX, Javascript.
  • Maintained and enhanced Splash Screen Generator (SSG), a tool used by IBM global internal customers to generate splash screens and about product dialogs for IBM products. Implemented customers' requirements such as the ability to have long product names that can span over 2 lines, long copyright statement complying to IBM legal standards and others. Fixed tool's defects such as broken GIF output, ASCII characters inconsistency. Documented problems and suggested solutions, best practices for future development, maintenance, and enhancement. Technologies applied included: Java, JSP, CorelDRAW, Component Object Model (COM), PHP, LDAP, XML, Rational Application Developer, HTML, CSS, AJAX, Javascript.
  • Maintained and enhanced User Interface Graphics Repository (UIGR), a tool that allows internal designers to search, view, and download thousands of reusable graphical elements (icons, wizards, accent graphics etc). Fixed tool's defects (updating a graphic element record removes all the keywords associated with that record). Participated in discussions for re-architecture of tool using ColdFusion, LDAP, DB2 and SQL. Technologies applied included: ColdFusion, HTML, Javascript, XML, DB2, SQL.
  • Aided in the designing of the new version of IBM Canada Lab intranet site. Worked on creation of web widget and news archive of the new site using PHP, AJAX, DB2, SQL.
  • Maintained department's server (cleaning up for space, installing security patches and updates), trouble shooting and problem determination. Resolved several ongoing issues through investigation and testing.

Environmental Health and Safety/Information Technology intern

  • Coordinated and updated main website of Intel Vietnam to ensure it reflected site's up to date general information, as well as specific information such as goals, policies, principles, and values.
  • Created an internal website for Environmental Health and Safety department of Intel Vietnam to introduce safety rules and regulations, performance indicator, training material, projects for a better, safer, and more efficient work environment. Technologies applied included HTML, CSS.
  • Designed and developed an online lunch registration tool, as requested by Corporate Services department, for 115 of Intel Vietnam's employees. This resulted in a more convenient and effortless method for lunch registration than the old paper-form approach. Technologies applied included PHP, MySQL, and Javascript.
  • Set up "Ask Rick" tool to provide Intel Vietnam website viewers a method to ask questions and receive answers about site-related topics from senior site manager Rick Howarth. Technologies applied included ASP.NET, VB.NET.
  • Assisted Human Resources department to design and develop an awards and recognition website to promote Intel Vietnam's culture of appreciation and reinforce site's key principles. Technologies applied included ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL server 2005, Visual Web Developer.
  • Designed and customized electronic internship-related forms, as requested by Staffing department, to provide managers and interns a quick and efficient way to fill in and submit these forms to give feedback and input regarding internships offered at Intel Vietnam. Technologies used was Microsoft InfoPaht.
  • Assisted Human Resources department in designing posters for New Employee Orientation event, Safety Month promotion.
