NOAA Sea Grant Dockside Fish Market Tasting event
Volunteer for Sea Grant's Dockside Fish Market Tasting event. The event showcased multiple species of sustainable and local seafood raised, caught, and prepared all by local San Diego businesses. The event was held to gauge local interest in building a dockside Fish Market for San Diegan's to enjoy and to evaluate what species the local populous would predominantly enjoy if such a venue were available. - Provided assistance with set up and tear down of 13 stations, dining area, beverage area, and rotation of vendors. - Warm-fully welcomed, registered and signed in guests during event (nearly 350 in attendance). - Assisted guests with direction and crowd control ensuring only registered guests were in attendance for the event. - Ensured a high level of energy and customer service while interacting with guests. Smiling and open hand gestures were key in providing a welcoming and friendly experience to all guests. - Bused tables when guests left dining areas, and ensured trash was properly disposed at end of day. - Directed traffic and parking during vendor setup and incoming rush of attendees. - Maintained working background knowledge of the event to provide proper education along with atmosphere to guests when presented questions about food preparation, food origin, and general questions regarding the event. - Proactively stepped in to provide food preparation and plating for a vendor when an emergency occurred rendering their chef unavailable for the rest of the event's duration. - Acted as intermediary to event coordinator and staff to allow for expedited problem solving and multitasking. - Took charge over multiple issues as they arose throughout the day ranging from providing medical assistance to a park patron to refilling beverage station coolers.
