∙ Interview patients and members of the community to determine location and sources of known contacts with communicable diseases; contact various individuals to request and verify various information related to communicable disease sources.
∙ Conduct field investigations to trace suspected communicable disease contacts through patients, community members, public authorities and other sources; collect, analyze and prepare blood samples and evidence of communicable disease sources.
∙ Research, compile and evaluate a variety of data and information related to communicable disease outbreak; identify disease sources and provide recommendations concerning appropriate treatment, as well as identifying possible risk factors.
∙ Develop, implement and conduct a variety of community outreach activities concerning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of communicable diseases by delivering oral presentations and distributing related informational materials.
∙ Communicate with personnel, various outside agencies and the public to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns related to possible outbreaks or epidemics of communicable diseases.
∙ Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical records, reports, and files related to communicable diseases, sources, interviews, investigations and assigned activities.
