Tom Hess the guitarist for the metal band Rhapsody of Fire, has been teaching electric guitar for several years. In 2002, Tom Hess launched his eponymous music corporation in order to provide lessons and mentorship to aspiring musicians. Over the last decade, Mr. Hess has taught numerous students how to play guitar online, many of whom eventually developed into professional musicians. Some of Mr. Hess's former pupils currently tour around the globe, while others have signed professional record labels. As such, Tom Hess possesses a deep knowledge of establishing and cultivating one's musical career, as well as procuring professional positions in the music industry. As such, by freely offering teaching advice to other budding guitar teachers, Mr. Hess contributed to the successful establishment of several other guitar mentorship programs. Committed to sharing his musical expertise, Mr. Hess bestows merit-based scholarships to students through his Music Career Mentoring Program.Aside from teaching music, Tom Hess has played guitar with Rhapsody of Fire since 2010. The band has been through several permutations since its inception in 1993 and has sold more than 1.5 million records worldwide. Mr. Hess played rhythm guitar parts and performed several solos on the band’s most recent album, From Chaos to Eternity, which broke into the Top 100 in several countries. In addition to Rhapsody of Fire, Tom Hess acts as the main composer of HESS, his instrumental band. He has also toured with HolyHell and contributed to their album Apocalypse. Tom Hess first picked up a guitar in the mid-1980s and drew inspiration from prominent metal groups, such as Van Halen, Metallica, and Def Leppard. An alumnus of Roosevelt University, Tom Hess received his Bachelor of Music Composition with highest honors. Hess also completed an Associate of Arts in Music Theory with highest honors at Harper College.
