Served over 15 years in the Air National Guard as an Electronic Digital Computer Installer. Served in a Combat Communications unit for 6 of those years; traveling to the Middle East, Germany, and stateside. In addition to receiving extensive leadership training, gained experience with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer and communications equipment.Additional accomplishments includes IT infrastructure design and implementation.Establishd a 7-level in the 2E6X3 AFSC. In addition to reserve/guard duty experience, held this position full time as a civil service federal employee from 1999 to 2001.

Experience to include:

  • Inspect and test lines and cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Set up service for customers, installing, connecting, testing, and adjusting equipment.
  • Splice cables, using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
  • Travel to customers' premises to install, maintain, and repair audio and visual electronic reception equipment and accessories.
  • Using equipment work order information, blueprints, circuit diagrams, and floor plans, set up new central offices, added equipment to existing offices, and replaced outdated equipment.
  • 15 years experience operating and troubleshooting these systems: Avaya G3si Voice Switch, Intuity Audix, 2400 Copper Cable Plant, Fiber Optic Cable(multi and single mode).

Computer/Telecommunications Installer

OSU Medical Center

Located in Columbus, Ohio, The Ohio State University Medical Center is one of the largest and most diverse academic medical centers in the country and the only academic medical center in central Ohio. Experience included overseeing telecommunications systems including voice, data, and video communication. Managed the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of networks. Worked with Information Systems staff to assess telecommunications systems capabilities and determine long-range needs. Held this position full time from 1996-1999.

Experience to include:

  • Programmed new installations, adds, moves, and changes to data and telephony.
  • Conducted field tests to ensure efficiency and durability of equipment.
  • Involved in the planning, development and construction of new telecommunications buildings and sites, made sure that users were satisfied and maintained internal consistency.
  • Assisted in planning cable routes.
  • Supervised the expansion of existing hardware and solved technical problems.
  • Conducted site surveys and met with contacts like business managers, construction crew members, utility company personnel, and people from other departments.
