Manage and oversee all aspects of the ACC IT department and responsible for project management and operational management of technology solutions that support the clinical research mission of the Abramson Cancer Center. Regularly interact with directors, and assist administration, executive steering committee on IT issues and provide technology solutions and regularly communicates with UPHS central IT management and serve as a liaison between the functional and technical communities. Directly involve in R&D and technology evaluation and perform budgeting and cost analysis for information technology department. Manage a highly skilled staff of 27 employees and also responsible for financial and HR aspects of IT department.

Major projects ,implementations and achievements include:

·Implementation of Clinical Research Management System(Velos eResearch) which supports patient recruitment, patient scheduling, IRB and study monitoring, project planning, study design, protocol compliance, budget, invoicing, and milestone management; data safety monitoring, adverse event reporting, system integration and study execution. This system will also provide end-to-end electronic clinical trial data collection, where study data comes directly from source systems (e.g. labs, adverse events and medical records) at the sites, to the lead investigator and monitors, and on to the CRO and/or sponsor.

·Implementation of Sunrise Integrated Medication Management (SRx)The new Sunrise Pharmacy (SRx) application is a full-featured pharmacy information system that enables pharmacists to quickly enter, review and verify orders, and then safely dispenses medications. The order entry feature offers advanced clinical decision support for checking medication contraindications.

·Implementation of Epic (Ambulatory EMR)EpicCare streamline care processes, facilitate interoffice communication, and strengthen the patient-provider relationship. It also gives clinicians and nurses a targeted result views and graphing capabilities. It also provides suite of personalized documentation tools that automate charting, comprehensive medication management and communication hub for results review and system-wide messages.

·Implementation of Sunrise Clinical Manager (Inpatient EMR) SCM isinpatient EMR which offers a high level of patient care and safe delivery of medication.SCM manages inpatient medications, allergies, clinical documentation and all inpatient lab/procedure orders.

·Implementation of Study Patients Registration System helps research staff members to enroll new patients in Phase I, II and III trials and assigned them protocol number, sequence number, date on study, it also manages and tracks baseline performance status and screened failure, metastatic sites, histology, disease site etc.

·Implementation of Protocol Documents Tracking System helps nurses and research staff to manage and track document sent to IRB, FDA and CTSRMC regarding patient consent, IRB and CTSRMC approval and track the amendments. It also manages documents e.g. financial disclosure, PI’s acceptance, Form 1572, medical licenses etc to the sponsors.

·Implementation of Protocol Labs Management System helps research nurses to mange and track the labs for the patients enrolled in different trials and this system automatically evaluate these labs based on toxicity criteria of NCI.

·Successfully implemented smooth transfer and synchronization of data between multiple research centers and sites e.g. Data Farber Cancer Center of Harvard Medical School, Fox Chase Cancer Center and Beth Israel Deaconess of Harvard Medical School , in order to collaborate and facilitate PI’s and research staff; working on multi institutional clinical trials.

Consultant – Information Systems Operations


Led a core enterprise systems implementation team to implement inpatient, outpatient and clinical research systems. With the collaboration of senior management; I was responsible to develop and implement IT-related departmental and enterprise-wide policies and procedures for the clinical departments and the hospital (SBUH) which ensured appropriate use of information technology and a secured computing environment. Also, led and directed the resources and activities of the IT departmental staff to ensure 24 x 7 computing support for SBUH operations and to Stony Brook care sites in Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

Major projects ,implementations and achievements include:

  • Implementation of Oracle Clinical which was used by the researchers in the School of Medicine and department of clinical research to capture and store patient data that is collected as part of all the clinical trials that were conducted at SBUH or in collaboration with SOM researchers.
  • Implementation of GE MUSE/Cardiology which directs and manage the flow of cardiac information. It helped cardiologist to pull ECG data from the acquisition device. Access serial comparison, analyze and confirm the data with GE Marquette analysis program. It also distributes the patient’s results and accesses the patient’s electronic medical record.
  • Responsible for daily information systems and technology operations within the IS department to include managing the departmental IT staff, establishing priorities and maintaining reliable IT coverage. Also, worked closely with senior management, department heads and vendors to solicit cooperation and resolved IT implementation and integration related issues.
  • Worked closely with bio-informatics staff on a daily basis to integrate work efforts. Ensured proper coordination and integration of IT services with multiple satellite locations and provided IT strategic direction to the department of radiation oncology for the implementation of new electronic medical record system and other new technologies
