Ludington, Michigan-based physician Dr. Timothy Murphy, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, completed his medical education and practices medicine in the state he has long called home. Dr. Murphy earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. Following graduation, he was accepted into the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at Blodgett Hospital (now Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital) and St. Mary’s Health Care, both located in Grand Rapids. While there, Timothy F. Murphy, MD, found time to conduct clinical research. In 1992, the Grand Rapids Area Medical Education Committee recognized his scientific achievements with the John R. Horn Award for Best Clinical Research. The same year, his research placed third in the Michigan Resident Research Competition.
After finishing his residency training, Dr. Timothy Murphy opened an obstetrics and gynecology practice in the Grand Rapids area in 1992. During that time, he also served as Clinical Associate Professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
In recent years, Dr. Timothy Murphy relocated to Ludington, his wife’s hometown. Today, he runs Ludington Women's Health, which offers high-quality women’s health care with a personalized touch. Timothy F. Murphy, MD, caters to women who are experiencing high-risk pregnancies as well as those whose pregnancies have been categorized as normal. His services also consist of laparoscopy, urinary incontinence surgery, colposcopy, endometrial ablation, infertility treatment, and in-office ultrasound. Additionally, Dr. Timothy Murphy performs three forms of hysterectomy surgery: vaginal, abdominal, and laparoscopically-assisted. Whether he is operating, delivering a baby, or responding to an emergency situation, Dr. Murphy concentrates on his patients’ comfort.
Aside from his professional responsibilities, Dr. Timothy Murphy maintains an active role in the community. He was appointed Vice President of the Board of Education for Ludington Area Catholic School. He also sits on the Board of Directors of West Shore Pregnancy Care Center. Prior to moving to Ludington, Dr. Murphy volunteered at Clinica Santa Maria, a medical facility assisting the migrant population in Grand Rapids.
