A military veteran who served during the first Gulf War, Timothy J. Bassett returned to the United States after his duties and settled in upstate New York near his friends and family. Mr. Bassett attended high school in the region, excelling in athletics as a two-sport varsity athlete in football and soccer. After high school, Timothy J. Bassett enrolled at a Pennsylvania community college, where he earned a private pilot license before joining the United States Marine Corps and serving as a Helicopter Mechanic. He achieved the rank of Corporal by the end of his commitment to his nation. Following his four-year military career, he entered the criminal justice field as a Corrections Officer and State Trooper in the New York state system. In both of his positions, Timothy J. Bassett faced dangerous, potentially life-threatening scenarios and relied on his military and professional training in self-defense, firearm use, restraints, and the proper methods of handling escalating situations. Mr. Bassett served the state of New York for a total of 13 years. Timothy J. Bassett most recently leveraged his previous experiences in adversarial situations and threat assessment as a member of Sears Holdings Corporation’s loss prevention team. Mr. Bassett used his observational skills to monitor employees and customers, watching for potential threats to company assets while serving as a deterrent to crime. He further held responsibility for the detection and apprehension of shoplifters and internal thefts. A native of upstate New York, Timothy J. Bassett enjoys watching Buffalo Bills football during the fall and winter. He also enjoys classic cars and watching NASCAR; Jeff Gordon is his favorite driver. With his children, Mr. Bassett goes on boating and camping excursions, taking advantage of the outdoor opportunities in upstate New York.
