Peats Ridge Festival & Surry Hills Festival (The Festival Company)

  • I was involved in all facets of the marketing campaigns for both the Surry Hills Festival and Peats Ridge Music Arts Sustainability Festival.

  • I ran the social media campaigns for both festivals.

  • I liased closely with videography team and developed video strategy that ensured we captured all elements of the festival – music, art, workshops, the people, sponsorships, camping, bars, the faces, costumes and décor.

  • I dealt directly with Festival Media Partners for Surry Hills Festival & Peats Ridge, including Timeout, 2SER, FBI Radio, DRUM Media, Triple J & City Hub ensuring that expectations werebeing met on our website, at the event and via our social media channels.

University Of Canberra Rugby League Club
  • Created and managed the University of Canberra Rugby League club whom competed statewide against Institutions such as Sydney University, UTS, Newcastle & Bathurst.

  • Created a digital character named “Clarence Pasture” who became the voice of the club. He allowed us to quickly build a following at a time when social media was brand new.

  • I created the club from a simple idea of wanting to create positive change among the University campus by developing a culture of excitement and participation both on and off the football from UC students.

  • I was nominated as Young Canberra Citizen of the Year for the category of Entrepreneur after the success of the club.

  • Raised $15,000 to $30,000 in Sponsorship per year for 3 years from Canberra businesses.

  • Managed 120 football players over 3 years.

  • Managed all communication campaigns which saw over 800 students join the club as social members, and saw an average of 300-400 students attend key matches on the campus.

What I've Done & The Lessons

  • In 2014 I began my own Content Marketing Consultancy (Hello Content) after working for some of Australia’s most renowned music, art and culture festivals since 2012. Hello Content was created with mentoring from Canberra’s leading Content Marketing Agency: The Content Group and aims works with clients to create quality content to distribute a structured framework and calendar.

  • During 2014 I created a Blog Website called Love Your Mother. The Blog received 100,000 hits in it’s first week as a result of a letter I had written, and the following social media campaign across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.

 

  • I learnt the importance of vision, hard work, planning, negotiation and focusing on the small details and taking every last opportunity. I learnt the importance of having a plan, publishing content in the online world with consistency and the power of language.
  • In 2014 I created an Instagram account called: Democracy Australia. This page has grown to have 7800 followers with daily postings receiving high degree of engagements.

 

  • In 2014 & 2015 I ran the on-the-day social media for Yabun Festival – linking image and video posts between social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram & twitter.

 

  • I joined The Festival Company as an intern in February 2012, working on both the Peats Ridge Festival & Surry Hills Festival simultaneously running their social media campaigns.

 

  • I have acquired a huge amount of knowledge in the world of events in particular with marketing, sponsorship and forging strong partnerships/relationships with all stakeholders, they be festival attendees, sponsors of the event or the volunteers teams.

 

  • In 2013 I took up role as marketing coordinator of Parramasala which is a festival celebrating South East Asian cultures. The event took place in Western Sydney and gave me new insight into the diversity of cultures in Sydney and Australia. I was tasked with marketing to various ethnic groups lisasing with various cultural communities across Sydney including Chinese, Indian, Korean and Arabic target audiences.
