EMT / Communication Specialist

Works under the supervision of the Nurse Director and Nurse Manager. Functions as a member of the Critical Care Transport Team in the field and hospital environments. Responsible for the care of critically ill and injured patients transported by the Miami Children's Hospital Transport Program. Responsibilities include patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Transport Physician which incorporates assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and intervention skills. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the MCH ambulance and its equipment. Specific responsibilities include responding to requests for assistance, dispatch of and communications with all of LifeFlight's aircraft and ambulance vehicles, record keeping, data entry and clerical support duties. Coordinates LifeFlight Communications systems including telephone communications with the hospitals, physicians, nurses, and public safety dispatchers. Take part in the ongoing development of the LifeFlight program by attending and participating in meetings, inservices, committees and taking on and completing projects as assigned by the Director/Manager.
