Founder EnEx-Consult LLP - "Engineering Excellence in IC-Development". Providing management consulting and interim management in all enabling areas of IC-Development to convert R&D-Investment into Profit.

January – November 2010: Interim Manager / Consultant for a Semiconductor Company in Shanghai responsible for Design Services and IP-Management.

  • Established a standardized mile-stone system, project-planning, accounting and reporting tools 
  • Conceptualized and implemented an online IP-Management system consisting of roles & responsibilities, incoming and outgoing quality criteria, and IT-based documentation system 
  • Agreed on short- and mid-term competency needs, performed gap analysis, defined internal & external competence areas, identified external partner quality and acceptance criteria

Senior Director Development Center

Qimonda North America

Heading the Memory Development Center with approximately 200 engineers and managers. Responsible for efficient execution of projects (time, cost, quality), driving high development performance, IP creation, continuous improvement, implementation and adherence to development processes and management systems, optimization of structure and resource allocation for maximum performance, synergy and innovation, as well as coaching, target setting and evaluation of the department managers.

  • Managed the development-center to outstanding execution-performance by finding the right mixture between business required risk-taking, 'we can do' - mentality and reliable development results, yielding in ‘Team of the Quarter’-award twice and Qimonda Site Award in October 2008.
  • Developed a highly appreciated comprehensive strategy to ensure both professional development of key-staff, taking over responsibilities from HQ and establishing a truly 'learning organization'.
  • Managed the integration of approximately 40 engineers from Qimondas Development Center in Burlington, Vermont which was closed by 06/2008 combined with a ‘reduction in force' - exercise in May 2008 in Cary where approximately 40 engineers were effected.
  • Managed ramp-down and closure of the Development Center in Cary in 10/2008 until 01/2009 where all 200 employees are laid off.

Responsible for operation of the entire site (IC-development center, human resources, information security, finance, facilities, government and university relations) with up to 400 staff working in Communications, u-Controller, ASICs and DRAM-development.

  • Strategized and instituted Xi'an as an indispensable part of Infineon's Development Network, with above average customer ratings, highest innovation, lowest staff turnover and lowest cost.
  • Instilled a strong focus on innovation, learning organization, and performance measurement and management.
  • Effected win-win systems between company and staff to ensure engineering excellence by highly motivated staff.
  • Created strong and during relationships with local universities and government for mutual benefit.
  • Appointed advisor to the Xi'an mayor and other governmental committees.

Responsible for the management of the IC-Development Center focusing on wireline-communications (e.g. ADSL), 8-bit u-controller and disc-drive controllers.

  • Established DC Singapore as well known for strict execution quality, high responsiveness and outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Drafted and implemented innovative programs to attract the best talents in the region and to retain staff within the organization.
  • Utilized government funding opportunities to establish a win-win program to eliminate staff retrenchment during 2001 down-turn.
