About  Thomas Finke

Thomas Finke has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and currently serves as chairman and CEO of Babson Capital Management, LLC. Based in Babson’s Charlotte, North Carolina, office, he directs a global institutional investment management firm with operations on four continents and $215 billion in assets under management. Complementing his leadership role with Babson, Thomas Finke also leads as chairman of the firm’s subsidiaries Wood Creek Capital Management, LLC, and Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, LLC.

Earlier in his career, Thomas Finke handled high-yield bonds and syndicated loans for such institutions as Mellon Bank, Bear Stearns and Company, and First Union Capital Markets. He later cofounded First Union Institutional Debt Management, a multibillion-dollar high-yield loan management company, and joined Babson Capital Management in 2002 upon Babson’s acquisition of the firm. In his prior role as president of Babson Capital Management, Mr. Finke oversaw the US Bank Loan staff and all non-investment activities. Until 2011, he also helped guide Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company as executive vice president and chief investment officer.

Currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Structured Finance Industry Group, Thomas Finke previously maintained responsibilities as a founding board member of the Loan Syndications & Trading Association. He supports local institutions of higher education as a member of both the Capital Campaign Committee at Davidson College and the Board of Advisors of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Belk School of Business.
