A longtime executive for several companies in the medical technology and bioscience sectors, Thierry Thaure has built an outstanding record at early-stage startups and established multinational firms alike. With more than 30 years of relevant experience, Mr. Thaure is the co-founder of innovative Mitral Valve fast follower Cephea Valve Technologies The company is being incubated as a virtual start up with outsourced engineering and clinical trials. Prior to Cephea, Thierry Thaure served as Chief Executive Officer of MaunaKea Technologies Inc., in San Jose, California, where he initiated a substantial turnaround for the publicly traded French company’s U.S. division. From 2011 through 2012, Thierry Thaure drove MaunaKea’s ambitious commercialization endeavors in the U.S., restructuring sales and marketing strategies for the popular Cellvizio product. In addition, Mr. Thaure served on the Board of Directors before and after MaunaKea’s 2011 initial public offering, in which capacity he helped steer the company’s activities on a global scale. Aside from his work, Thierry Thaure enjoys playing basketball and biking, traveling around the world, and spending time with his family whenever possible.
Before assuming duties at MaunaKea Technologies, Mr. Thaure spent seven years as President and CEO of EndoGastric Solutions, during which time he positioned the promising young startup as a key player in the market for incisionless gastrointestinal surgery. To this end, Thierry Thaure increased revenues from zero to $20 million, raised $125 million in funding and, and generated favorable coverage for EndoGastric Solutions in The Wall Street Journal, which named it one of 2011’s Top Venture-Funded Companies in the U.S. Previously, Mr. Thaure worked as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Accuray, Inc.; Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Intuitive Surgical; and Director of International Business at Origin Medsystems, Inc. A graduate of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and Duke University, Thierry Thaure earned his M.B.A. and B.S. in Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering from these respective institutions.
