Town Engineer

Town of Addison
  • Responsibilities: Management and direction of activities and operations of the Town which required the expertise of a Civil Engineer. This included airport projects, park construction, drainage projects, roadway construction, bridge construction, intersection improvements, and water and sewer utilities. Prepared and presented oral and written reports, computer spreadsheets, and correspondence for the Director of Public Works, the City Manager, and the City Council. Assisted in the development of the Public Works and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) budgets. Served as a member of the land-development team and managed activities associated with development operations including plat and plan review. Served as the floodplain administrator. Managed the Storm Water Management Program. Responsibilities included administration of engineering and construction contracts, as well as inspection of capital improvement construction projects and direct supervision of the Public Works Inspector and Assistant Inspector including assigning work tasks, overseeing completion of tasks, and evaluating performance.
  • Specific Projects: Developed engineering design standards and construction standard details. Capital improvement projects included the $10 million Addison Airport Runway reconstruction/overlay with TxDOT Aviation coordination; $2.0 million reconstruction of Taxiways Romeo and Sierra at Addison Airport; the $2.2 million reconstruction of Addison Road; assisted the Director of Public Works with the $5.7 million Surveyor Elevated Storage Tank; and management of a $30 million bond program for Vitruvian Park, a one-hundred (100) acre mixed-use Public-Private Partnership between the Town of Addison and UDR, Inc. that included the realignment and reconstruction of Brookhaven Club Drive/Vitruvian Way, the reconstruction of Spring Valley, installation of two new signalized intersections, the construction of Ponte Avenue and Bella Lane, a 127lf U-beam bridge, a 141lf box beam bridge, a 152lf pedestrian truss bridge, and a twelve (12) acre park that required a 404 permit and a flood study used to obtain a Letter of Map Revision.

  • Specific Projects: Projects included Uptown Village, a seventy-two (72) acre commercial Public-Private Partnership in Cedar Hill, Texas that included a 215lf prestressed concrete I-beam bridge; 900lf of Harwood Street for the City of Dallas, Texas; Downtown Streetscape Improvements for the City of Cedar Hill, Texas; DP&L Building TIF and Streetscape Improvements in Downtown Dallas, Texas; Sphinx at Delafield, a twelve (12) acre apartment complex in Dallas, Texas; Bryan Street Station Condominium and Townhome Community, a one (1) acre European-style condominium and townhome development in Dallas, Texas; Texas Wesleyan University Residence Hall, a $6.5 million coed residence hall that houses 260 students in Fort Worth, Texas; Central Texas Marketplace Apartments, a twenty-two (22) acre apartment complex in Waco, Texas; Canal Side Lofts Apartments, a five (5) acre upscale apartment complex in Las Colinas (Irving, Texas); The Village at Fairview, a 180 acre mixed use Public-Private Partnership in Fairview, Texas that included a unit hydrograph model of the watershed; and The Village at Allen, a 180 acre commercial Public-Private Partnership in Allen, Texas.

  • Specific Projects: Projects included 3,800lf of Frisco Street, a 6-lane divided thoroughfare for the City of Frisco, Texas that included a twenty-inch (20") water line and the design of a culvert large enough to carry storm water under Frisco Street without raising the headwater of an existing storm water detention area; 5,500lf of Eldorado Parkway, a 6-lane divided thoroughfare for the City of Frisco, Texas; 3,400lf of Gary Burns Drive, a 4-lane divided thoroughfare for the City of Frisco, Texas; 3,000lf of Main Street, a 6-lane divided thoroughfare with one slip lane for the City of Frisco, Texas that included a railroad crossing; Castle Hills Phase 4A, a 116 acre residential subdivision in Lewisville, Texas; and Frisco Square, a 147 acre mixed-use Public-Private Partnership in Frisco, Texas.

  • Responsibilities: Modeled existing and proposed vehicular movement on freeway ramps using CORSIM, a computer simulation program. Used statistical analysis programs to determine if there is a correlation between driveway spacing after exit ramps and frequency of accidents. Conducted literature reviews for project. Created tables and wrote summaries of data for final report.
  • Specific Projects: A final report and model establishing a statistical relationship between traffic accidents and the distance between exit ramps and driveways. The report was utilized by TxDOT to establish safe minimum distances between exit ramps and driveways.

Interning Technical Assistant

  • Responsibilities: Performed research on innovative applications of new types of coagulants in order to meet the Disinfection Byproduct Rule. Performed entry of daily logs into a computer database system.
  • Specific Projects: Development of a final report detailing the research findings. The report contained details on the relationship between the liquid ferric sulfate and the anionic polymer. The relationship was used to eliminate the waste of one of the two products due to overuse. Additionally, the report recommended adding the maximum amount of potassium permanganate possible at the source in order to reduce the amount of disinfection byproducts leaving the plant.
