Student Intern

Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla

The High School Exploration Summer internship program was an unpaid internship designed to allow students to learn about the healthcare environment though a five week interdisciplinary department rotation in a hospital setting. Students’ academic healthcare learning is reinforced through real-life applications and observations. I shadowed healthcare professionals on their daily tasks while assisting them to the best of my abilities from direct patient care to behind the scenes of the hospital.

Community Service

Community Service-

Assistant Soccer Coach 75+ hour

I helped coach a group of girls ages 10 and under to learn and improve their soccer skills.

Key Club 10+ hours

Through Key Club, I have  spent many hours to help give back to the community while becoming more outgoing and making new friends.

San Diego Food Bank 10+ hours

I worked along with many others to pack food boxes for the homeless and hungry throughout San Diego.

Valhalla High School Women's Soccer 100+ hours

Due to my serious injuries and my doctor's orders to stop sports, my love for high school soccer was so strong. I wanted to stay involved with the soccer program so I helped JV Coach Diane Gold with setting up practices and coaching the team. This allowed me to stay connected with soccer even though I couldn't play.

Bus Ministry100+ hours

Through this ministry at Foothills Christian Church, I have met and mentored children who come from poor and unsafe neighborhoods. These children have been through abusive homes and dangerous situations, so we would go to their neighborhoods, bring them to church, and feed them food to bring them back home. This is one of my favorite activities because I absolutely love playing and teaching these kids.

Homeless Ministry10+ hours

Through this ministry at Foothills Christian Church, others and I secure a parking lot for families that live out of their cars and provide food and a safe place for them to sleep at night. Adults from the church would provide Bible study for the adults of the families while fellow teenagers and I would provide Bible study for the children.

San Diego County Foster Youth Mentor Program170+ hours

I worked alongside my mother in mentoring a kid in the foster program. We would help a boy named Eligah, who has Aspergers. Both his parents died when he was very young so we gave him the closest thing he has felt to family until he was adopted. These 2 years of helping Eligah was one of the most humbling experiences I have been through.

Math Tutoring

Math is my strongest subject in school so I provide tutoring to friends and whoever needs help.

Peer Tutor

Through peer tutor, I have helped Valhalla students with special needs with their academic classes and social skills every school day.
