Having spent more than five years working in the mod community and coming from a background in history and archaeology, including experience in the field, my experience with integration of historical concepts into gameplay elements is well developed.

Volunteer Experience:

Europa Barbarorum (Oct. 2006 - Present) – I have been a historian and coordinator for the international group Europa Barbarorum from October of 2006 to the present.  EB is a mod for the popular computer game Rome: Total War aimed at accurately representing the ancient world in the 3rd century BC.  As part of this team I have been involved in doing research, writing descriptions, coordinating work done by other members, generating code, designing images for both promotion and in-game use, working collaboratively to design game-play mechanics and representing the mod in an official capacity with Academic Professionals and Institutions.

Skiffy (Sept. 2006 - Aug. 2010) – I was a member of the university student group Skiffy for the four years I attended Wilfrid Laurier University.  I held the position of Secretary for the 2007-2008 year, the position of president of Skiffy for the 2008-2009 school year, during which time I also acted as events coordinator, and the position of events coordinator during the 2009-2010 year.  I officially represented the group as part of an interview on CTV's 'Province Wide' program, filmed at the studio in Kitchener, ON.

Stage Experience (2000 – Present) – My stage experience throughout Elementary school, High school and Community theatre, both on stage and back stage, has helped to shape my work attitudes.  Theatre work involves working with numerous different directors and producers, with different visions, expectations and styles of management.  Theatre is also an experience that requires hard work and dedication, putting in extra hours to get sets up and running, and working hard to make your finished product the best that it can be.

VON (Victorian Order of Nurses) (2002 - 2007) - My volunteer experience has lent me valuable skills in the fields of communication, time management and teamwork as well as office skills such as filing, filling appointments and making/receiving company calls.

Archaeological Experience:

Madaba, Jordan  (2007) – Working at the Wadi Ath-Thamad project in Jordan has taught me a lot about excavation techniques, paperwork, cataloging, and analysis. I had the privilege to act as square supervisor and thus have experience with the responsibilities and paperwork involved.

London, Ontario  (2002) – I took a summer course at a North American prehistoric site in London, Ontario run by the University of Western Ontario. I gained experience with North American artifacts and working conditions.

Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons has been a constant companion throughout my post-secondary education as wherever I have moved, they have always been there to offer me a job.  I worked at two other Tim Hortons before this one, both in different areas of Waterloo, and have been well regarded at all of them.  At my current Tim Hortons I have undertaken the additional responsibility of learning the various bake shifts in order to fill needed shifts.  I have been noted by my employers, customers, peers and upper management for my dedication, good work ethic and cheerful disposition.
