As a part of the financial services group, delivering IT services to large financial industry customers, started with JPMorgan Chase, a $15mil account at 45% target margin. Responsible for supporting sales and delivery. Will be taking over more accounts shortly. Services include IVR and call center related services in the loan processing, credit card services, and other areas.

Practice Head - Life Insurance


As a part of the financial services group, was heading establishment of Life Insurance consulting practice. Responsible for strategy creation to expand business as well as tactical execution on service delivery. Managed multiple engagements in the Life Insurance industry (Hartford Life, Northwest Mutual, Nationwide etc). Developed plans for attaining $0 to $50mil practice with 25% margin in 3 years. Left Wipro as the company’s strategic focus shifted away from establishing a new Practice to concentrating on large accounts (and none exist in Life Insurance vertical)

National Life Group

Reported to the President and was responsible for all IT services provided to the Life Insurance and Annuities divisions. Ran the department inclusive of application services and infrastructure; around 250 resources, outsourced through Keane with onsite/offshore model (Vermont, Texas and India). Annual tactical budget was $40Million split across application services, infrastructure and others. In addition to supporting mission critical applications based on IBM mainframe, client/server and web based technologies, was also responsible for creating the vision and executing on workflow, imaging, performance optimization, improving web stability etc.

In addition to providing tactical services like production support, SRs, and Projects, was also responsible for developing and delivering a 3 year strategic plan worth $25Million. This was developed based on significant collaboration and partnership with all the supported business units.

Program Management and Application Support Responsibilities

Ran two organizations with $18M in annual budget, the organizational structure had 200 people (inclusive of 12 Direct reports, 65 contractors and rest matrixed in).On the Application Support side, the objective was to keep the mission critical systems stable, customer support, adhere to SLAs etc. Applications are based on Life70, web based billing, web methods based sub systems, group life, accident, cancer etc. Partnered with Vendor Management Office (their biggest IT customer) for technology procurement (helped them establish processes).

Program Management side delivered 275,000 person hours per year Delivered 60+ projects inclusive of SAP, PeopleSoft, HIPAA, OCR, IVR, Portal, Imaging, web based and many IBM Mainframe projects. Summary is:

ØOrganization achieved CMM Level 3 vs. a target of Level 2.

ØRe-organized the dept, setup world class PM processes, scorecard metrics and resource management.

ØDelivered significant value through improved schedules (schedule integrity improved from 45% to 85%) and budget controls (from lack of measurements to controlled estimates and scope changes).

ØCo led the establishment of PMO and co authored and processes and policies

Project Executive, at Prudential- From 7/2001 through 7/2002, was Responsible for managing the global outsourcing of Prudential Account (five locations in NE USA). Worked with business unit managers, senior executives, and CIO to get funding for the IS initiatives (inclusive of Annuities, Retirement Services etc.). There were 6 PMs onsite, and 4 managers in Bangalore, India. Team consisted of 85 people across 6 projects.

Senior Program Manager- From 1/1997 through 7/2001, was responsible for dramatic growth in global resources. Starting at near zero, have grown it to 1500 with a budget of about $60M by 2001. Had a small team of analysts, engagement managers, relationship managers, pricing analysts etc to support the large initiative:

ØDeveloped a strategy for global sourcing and implemented a variety of initiatives and procedures

ØResponsible for client engagements, proposals, resourcing, contract management, SME support in transitions, monitor delivery, close out, report metrics etc.

ØEstablished, managed global vendor relationships (Mexico, India, Belarus, Argentina, Canada, China, etc.).

ØHave developed and implemented the processes and procedures for utilization of Global Resources.

Principal- From 11/1995 through 12/1996, have managed a large-scale development project for a Time-Share Company, worth 120 person years in effort. It is a globally distributed, OO architecture based client/server project. Was responsible for QA, training/help, deployment, people side transition of IT and project office.

Started as a Programmer Analyst in 1985 and moved up the ladder into being the youngest regional director. As the regional director, opened and developed the south east USA region with P&L responsibility.

ØDeveloped plans and built the practice from zero to $5Million annually with 12 accounts by 1995.

ØDirected the IT engagements, project management, profit and loss, personnel management and resource planning responsibility for the practice with about 220 people
