Barclays Application Gateway (Aug 16 - Current)

  • Description - This is a suite of applications aimed at serving Barclays' workforce across India, UK and Africa (Amalgamated Banks of South Africa). This includes:
    • Transport (Roster, schedule and manage employee transport)
    • SAP data feed
    • DCnG (Disciplinary, capability and grievance)
    • CEMS (Contractual Employee Management System)
    • INR (Incentives and Rewards)
    • Employee Full and Final
    • SCAN (Skybranch call assurance network)

1 - Pipeline Management

Software used - Angular 7, NoSQL MongoDb, Express JS & Node/ ASP.NET, Mongoose

Description - Saves and attestation, attrition analysis, Transaction cycle management (create, update, retire)

This project aims to provide Global MI team a seamless lightweight single page application to manage FTE saves, current attrition and forecast analysis and transaction cycle (TC) management system.

Tasks accomplished:

  • Research type of application suitable for the project
    • Research and propose low cost, highly scalable database design, light weight single page application suitability.
    • Raise requests for software, services and infrastructure required for project.
    • Provide a demo run of showcasing two way binding and postback and flicker free pages of application specifically suited to this project.

      2 - INR (Incentives and Rewards)

      Software used - Visual Studio 2017, SQL Server, Entity Framework, MVC

      Description - This project calculates incentives for front-line contact center employees. Data sources include AimCall, TotalView and NICE. Different processes have different incentive plans based on important metrics. For instance voice processes consider NPS(customer feedback), AHT(average handle time) and Sign on time. 

      The application provides interface to create complex incentive plans and based on data source run simulations.Output of this tool is primary source for payroll and finance. This project also considers feed from sister project DCnG in cases of warnings or critical defects.

      Tasks accomplished:

      • Software Design
        • Database design for the entire project.
        • Technical Design Document for the project.
        • Prepared flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and to describe logical operations involved using MSVisio.
        • UML for object hierarchy with focus on SOLID principles to promote flexibility and loose coupling. Focus on plug and play design to test polymorphic nature of ICalculator and run multiple unit tests. 
        • Maintain complete documentation details on Confluence.
      • Software Development
        • Designed complex algorithms to calculate intricate parameters dependent on other stages of incentive calculation like qualifiers, default payout, arrears, first warnings etc.
        • Coded the entire simulation module involving threading to perform calculations for extended time and provide live updates using table dependencies and events. 
        • Involved in setting up data model from diverse sources and setting up data feeds via sister project GUE and file system watcher.
      • Software Testing
        • Written test cases for business  and DAO layer
        • Supported QA during their regression testing and business users during their acceptance testing and help achieve UAT signoff.

      3. GMSL (Global Managed Supplier List)

      Software used - Visual Studio 2017, SQL Server, Entity Framework, MVC

      Description - This project helps procurement team in streamlining the Barclays Global Managed Supplier List database by providing details of anomalies in supplier list to supplier managers. 

      The GMSL file available from GMSL portal is processed through GUE upload and user initiates anomalies check based on predefined checks. The identified anomalies are then drafted and sent as emails to supplier managers. In case of supplier managers handling large list of suppliers, an HTML file is sent as attachment considering the fact that end user may not be registered on FNET hence data is not shown on FNET but in embedded HTML file.

      Technical considerations -This application was created with business driven changes in mind which called for loosely couple framework that laid heavy emphasis on extensiblility and manageability. To facilitate, the application employees dependency inversion principles and design patterns suited to the specific needs of the project. 

      Tasks accomplished:

      • Software Design
        • Database design for the entire project.
        • Technical Design Document for the project.
        • Prepared flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and to describe logical operations involved using MSVisio.
        • UML for object hierarchy with focus on SOLID & DRY principles to promote re-usability across different EmailProcessors wherever necessary. IEmailSender acts as the abstract interface and separates higher level modules from implementation details allowing for changes to lower level details.
        • Maintain complete documentation details on Confluence.
      • Software Development
        • Involved in end to end coding of multiple modules extending from Web, Factory to Services following some of the best coding practices.
        • Designed module to store data in staging area and call client service. 
      • Software Testing
        • Written test cases for business and service layers.
        • Supported business users during their acceptance testing and facilitate UAT signoff from Procurement team, Noida.

      4. DCnG (Disciplinary, capability and grievances)

      Software used - Visual Studio 2017, SQL Server, Entity Framework, MVC

      Description - This project is developed in tandem with HR to address disciplinary, capability and grievances within Barclays hence carries critical acclaim. Based on the type of case against an employee, he/she might be put on PIP (performance improvement plan) and monitored or given first/final warning or even termination. All evidence documents uploaded are stored at NAS location on the cloud. 

      Every case as a hearing manager, investigation manager and presiding HR head.

      Tasks accomplished:

      • Software Design
        • Database design for the entire project with end to end encryption.
        • Technical Design Document for the project.
        • Evidence documents to be uploaded to Barclays cloud (BCloud).
        • Prepared flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps a DCnG case will follow and to describe logical operations involved using MSVisio.
        • UML for object hierarchy with focus on DRY principles to promote re usability across different file processors wherever necessary. 
        • Maintain complete documentation details on Confluence.

        • Involved in end to end coding of multiple modules extending from ASP forms to Services, employing best coding practices.
        • Designed modules for Raise/Manage case, assign PIP (Performance Imp Plan) and generate warning letters in PDF
