Summary

I'm passionate about being out of doors, out of the metal and wooden rectangles we build to feel safe and to peddle goods to one another. Outside of these self constructed confinements are where my fondest memories and proudest work live.

Carpenter's Helper

I currently Work on a team with professional carpenters doing remodels/renovations and new construction in residential and commercial settings along the southern coast of Maine. My typical duties range(sometimes daily) from 

  • Demolition
  • Exterior work (walls/trim/siding/roofing)
  • Interior work (framing/sheetrock/insulation/etc)
  • Close attention to detail
  • Following instructions clearly
  • Showing up on time, every time

Crew Leader

Maine Conservation Corps Hallowell, ME

Led crew of 6 on 9 day recreational trail construction/maintenance projects throughout the State of Maine. Was responsible for safely facilitating all aspects of trail building including:

  • Rigging of rocks and supplies up to 1 ton up/downhill using GAC wire, pulleys, slings and a TU-17 Griphoist system.
  • Live and Hazard tree removal using chainsaws and axes
  • Paying attention to trail grade/trail trajectory
  • Trail planning to project sponsors specifications
  • Operating vehicles, backing/loading/hooking up trailers
  • Training team members on all aspects of trail building/backcountry living/first aid/workplace safety.
  • And many other duties.

Worked as a kayak trip leader driving 12+ kids/boats on multi-day/night kayak trips in Northern New Hampshire

  • Provided direct supervision/leadership
  • Planned 4+ days worth of food/supplies/logistics for 12+ kids
  • Performed maintenance on boats/bicycles
  • Created Emergency Response Plans

Skills

Computers/Microcontrollers/ Electronics

Micro controller/computer hardware/software/coding hobbyist. Knowledgable about electronic circuits,  circuit parts, and reading circuit schematics. Familiar with architecture of most computer coding languages and how to use them (HTML, C++, gcode, Wolfram, python, etc.). Versatile in all common OSes (Linux, Mac, PC).  Good at debugging problems. Always interested in learning more. 

Carpentry

Demolition, framing, making precise and accurate cuts, interior/exterior trim, siding (plank/vinyl/cedar), roofing(shingling/underlayment), insulation, interior/exterior walls(sheathing,underlayment,blocking, strapping), reading prints, painting, taking/reading measurements accurately, using levels, speed squares, compasses, etc. 

Outdoor Education

Certified Wilderness First Responder. Leave No Trace Trainer certified. Have taught camp life skills (fire building, tarp set up, camp site set up, hygiene, etc), blacksmithing, orienteering, bike maintenance, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, and other outdoor topics to children and adults alike.
