After making a switch in careers, Susan Z. Breyer has lived her life following her dream of creating beautiful, scenic oil paintings. Though she paints for the personal pleasure and exhilaration the act provides, Ms. Breyer's landscape, still life, and abstract paintings are routinely featured and purchased at art shows and hailed by critics for their "lively color schemes and evocative living components."
Susan Z. Breyer spent her undergraduate years at Stanford University. Studying political science, she finished the program with a Bachelor of Arts, and later obtained a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Possessing multiple degrees, Ms. Breyer entered the marketing industry. Though she maintained a successful career in the field, the work left her unsatisfied. Susan Z. Breyer then took her mother's suggestion to follow her passion for painting. Studying under Ning Hou, Ms. Breyer acquired advanced methods for producing nature-focused oil paintings. Utilizing the technique of combining painting and music to create powerful and scenic art, Susan Z. Breyer incorporates vivid colors and textures into each work.
Today, Susan Z. Breyer continues to paint in Woodside, California, where she resides with her children. Whenever possible, Ms. Breyer paints with her mother, impressionist artist Carolyn Zaroff. The duo often paints en plein air, the French technique of working outdoors, directly immersed in nature. Ms. Breyer also paints with fellow artists Louise Stroe, Justine Stamen Arrillaga, and Marina Marguet on a weekly basis. Her work is shown throughout the Bay Area, including exhibits in Redwood City and San Francisco. Susan Z. Breyer's oil paintings may be purchased at various galleries or through her website, www.susanzbreyer.com.
