As much as I love sketching and creating by hand, this is where I, like most other art directors and designers, work each day. As my specialty is mostly print design and environmental design, I focus on InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.

With over 12 years' experience in  graphic design, I have built my career around principles of branding and creative solutions that work for the company's bottom line. My philosophy is that a successful design incorporates solid functionality along with beautiful form. I work primarily in the areas of listening and acting as visual "translator." I see a good marketer's job as taking the stated corporate goals, adding in market knowledge (demographics, psychographics, etc.) and producing a solution that drives response. A good solution will feel natural yet fresh & new.

activities

I keep up with many publications and periodicals each month, and feel this helps me think more deeply about what is going on in the world, keeps me in touch with the left side of my brain, and helps me get inspired to do innovative design work. I also relish finishing a New York Times crossword puzzle and love that I live a block from a library. I'm not entirely bookish: I love finding time to go out on our boat, and take lots of walks with my dogs; I also enjoy a good tennis match.
