I have specialized in the field of International Marketing. I have developed skills to work in a Cross -cultural work environment. As a part of the course work, I had worked in an International Marketing group project work with a Glasgow based creative agency Nation1. The group consited of five members from five different coutries. The assignment was to select international market for Nation 1. The work involved macro & microenvironmental analysis of the UK market, SWOT Analysis, country Selection for entry, selected country environment analysis, formulation of entry Strategies for each of the country and finally formulation of country specific marketing plans. The project work had started from the beginning of the Masters course and continued till the end of the course. The project work was a real time application of the knowledge acquired in the area of International Marketing. The working in a cross cultural group had helped to develop skills in working an international environment. Moreover, the job had included interaction with Nation 1 executives, intervieiwng competitors of Nation 1, suppliers and customers of Nation1. These had helped to develop skills in communication and presentation. I also had the opportunity to develop skills and apply knowledge in the field of International business and Public policy by taking up a research work on European Biotechnology Clusters. I worked with EP associates based in the Strathclyde International Business Unit and The Scottish enterprise, the development agency of Scotland on the research. The work had involved a) Literature collection on innovation, knowledge accumulation and growth of high tech industrial cluster, b) construction of datasets of the core and support & services companies in the life sciences clusters in Medicon valley (Sweden & Denmark), Bayern (Germany) and Ireland and c) comparisons of the core companies based on their activities in the value chain. The job had involved telephonic interviewing of the core companies inthe European Life Sciences Clusters. I hadpresented my findings to the Biotechnology director of the Scottish Enterprise. I had interacted with the Scopttish Enterprise Biotechnology directorate to understand and develop the knwoledge of Biotechnology value chain.
The outcome of the research was an approach that helped to compare the core companies in a uniform way across all the clusters. The outcome was also used for a report to attract Venture Capital investment in Life Sciences Industry in Scotland. This work was sponsored by the Scottish Networks International , British Council Scotland. Scottish Networks International had awarded me the the designation of Associate on successful completion ofthe research.
The above two assignment has helped me to develop Client relationship management in an international work environment, analytical, presentation and communication skills, sharpen my knowledge and understanding of International Marketing, hone my skills in cross cultural work environment, time management and successful completion of the tasks.
I had received the British Gas/ University of Strathclyde /FCO shared Chevening scholarship for doing the M.Sc. programme at Strathclyde Business School.
