After receiving her bachelor of science in Human Performance and Psychology from San Jose State University, Sue Katra obtained California teaching credentials as an Adapted Physical Education Specialist (APES) trained to work with physically disabled populations. Sue Katra continued her studies at San Jose State, receiving an M.A. in Human Performance, with a dual concentration in Adapted Physical Education and Kinesiology/Corrective Therapy.
Sue Katra began her career at the Santa Clara Office of Education as an Adaptive Physical Education Specialist, and Special Education Teacher. During her two-decade tenure there, she worked with multi-disabled children, co-founded the Kiwanis Special Games, and was awarded recognition by Parents Helping Parents and Kiwanis for Sue Katra's "Contributions to the Special Needs Community". In addition, she managed internship opportunities for college students.
In 2006 Sue Katra obtained dual certificates from California State University, Fullerton, in Conservatorship and Trust Management, and began her second career serving the Elder and Special Needs populations as a conservator, trustee, and care manager. Later, Sue Katra obtained her license as a California Professional Licensed Fiduciary (CPLF). Sue's passion to provide excellence in care led her to additional certifications as a Geriatric Care Manager (GCM), and Case Manager (CCM).
Today, Sue Katra is a principal case management professional at Senior Life Solutions in Los Gatos, providing client assessments, Geriatric and Special Needs Care Management, caregiver placement and oversight, home safety and fall-risk solutions, medication management, Hospital/Doctor patient advocacy, living facility search and placement, and client wellness programs. Sue Katra practices in Silicon Valley and Santa Cruz region.
