An experienced veterinarian, Steven Leshem DVM continues to enjoy a successful career as a practitioner, researcher, and involved member of his extended community of peers. In addition to treating animals at West Hartford-based Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut, Dr. Leshem networks with his colleagues and monitors advancements in animal care by holding membership in professional organizations such as the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Steven Leshem, DVM also currently co-chairs Hartford County Veterinary Medical Association, and he holds the title of Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut, where Steven Leshem, DVM has worked since 2008, remains dedicated to treating pets like the family members they are. The veterinarians provide standard services such as wellness checkups, heartworm testing, and education. In addition, the clinic performs a number of surgical procedures for the bones, reproductive system, ears, skin, and other areas. Some of these specialized operations include episioplasties, tumor removals, fracture repairs, foreign body removals, and sinus surgeries. Dr. Leshem has an interest in arthroscopies and other orthopedic procedures, as well as soft tissue repair and laparoscopic surgeries. Moreover, he possesses expertise in neurological impairments. He also draws on the advanced training he received in small animal medicine, possessing certification in PennHIP imaging and Vet-Stem therapy. Before accepting his current position, Steven Leshem, DVM held several other roles in his field. From 2001 to 2003, he practiced as an Associate Veterinarian at Mesa Veterinary Hospital. He also worked at Adams County Animal Hospital and taught at Truckee Meadows Community College and Iowa State University. As an Adjunct Professor at Iowa State University from 2005 to 2008, he taught veterinary students and conducted research. In this role, he also undertook primary case management for soft tissue, neurosurgery, and orthopedic cases, such as laparoscopy and arthroscopy.
