Music: I have been playing trombone since I was in 5th grade and currently play in the DePauw Jazz Ensemble as well as the Trombone Choir.
Teaching (Music): I have given private lessons to beginner trombone students as well as helped direct a youth jazz ensemble.
Teaching (Academics): I have tutored my friends in various subjects since my junior year of high school.
Mathematics: I was a member of my high school mathletes team for all four years of high school, and I am currently studying towards a mathematics degree.
The first year of the Information Technology Associates Program (ITAP) is an immersion into four different rotations that each highlight different areas of technology.
I have thus far participated in the following rotations:
Digital Audio with Doug Fellegy
Throughout this rotation, I learned how different camera techniques can be used to create an effective video, and I also learned how to edit, film, and analyze film to learn how best to create a professional video.
Training Methods with Adonica Sendelbach
During this rotation I learned how to better teach a given person based on their learning style. Specifically, I learned to teach technology to a group of people with various learning styles by incorporating elements of every learning style into my presentation.
Digital Audio with Veronica Pejril
In this rotation, I learned about how digital audio clips can be moved, manipulated, and combined to create a collage of sound all through one, free-source program. I learned a great deal about how technology and music go hand in hand in creating the sounds of the future.
I assisted the Band Director, Ben Clark, by helping teach middle-school band children how to play jazz. The jazz programs at the children's schools had been cut, so the high school that the middle schools feed into decided to create this program to give these children an opportunity to play jazz before high school.
Cumulative GPA: 3.74
I am currently a Rector Scholar at DePauw studying towards a dual degree in Mathematics and Music Performance and also an Apprentice in the ITAP Program.
I graduated as Salutatorian from Lincoln-Way East with a G.P.A. of 5.47 on a 4.0 scale from a class of 580 students. I was a member of the National Honor Society, the Tri-M Music Honors Society, and an AP Scholar. I was the captain of the chess team and section leader in the various bands at Lincoln-Way East during my junior and senior years.
