IT Consultant (RPG Developer for WinWholesale)

Interactive Business Systems (IBS)

Provided staffing augmentation in the form of software analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation. Performed on teams responsible for:

  • Providing a new eCommerce system that provided a new level of a sales stream to the WinWholesale family of companies.
  • The implementation of the Vertax Sales Tax system which was integrated into the WinWholesale ERP system.

IT Consulting

Star Base Consulting

IT Consultant at Lenscrafters Role was expanded to include Account Manager for Luxottica. Dual reporting to the Star Base Consulting Team Leader and the Luxottica Senior Systems Development Manager. Provide staffing augmentation and serve as a liaison between the organization and its clients. Analyze technology environments and develop and test project documentation to improve methods of operation. Since joining Star Base Consulting, have spent 98% of billable hours on direct assignments to clients. Selected Achievements

  • Developed a standardized series of programs for datafeeds. It cut time to produce a datafeed from an average of 80 to 40 hours and saved about 20 weeks of development time over a period of 1 year.
  • Developed a set of programs that performed validation against incoming data that certified accuracy of information prior to the consolidation of 2 large companies.
  • Created a Claims Compliance Datafeed which permitted Luxottica to retain its state licensing and a Claims Universe Datafeed so the Finance department could process adhoc datafeeds.
  • Led a 5-member team that produced and implemented datafeed programs that reduced claims and billing processes 60% as well as standardized datafeed processes.
  • Served as a developer on a large team that completed 300-plus changes to an existing software application.

IT Manager

Total Safety US, Inc. (previously Hazco Services)

Promoted to IT Manager reporting to the Vice President of Operations just 1 year after being hired by Hazco as a Senior Systems Analyst. Reported to the IT Director, Total Safety, following the acquisition. Supervised a team of employees and consultants and performed multiple functions; e.g., business analysis, project management, system development and AS/400 administration. Asked to relocate to Houston, TX when the company relocated it's IT department. Declined the offer but directed the Data Center move to Houston and the purchase and installation of an additional AS/400 system. * Maintained 24 / 7 operation of the AS / 400 hardware system including the Lawson Financial package, Rentalman application and associated 3rd-party support software. Administered contracts, supervised personnel, directed projects and allocated budgets. Oversaw the Help Desk and provided IT direction for business operations. Selected Achievements

  • Ensured minimal disruption of activities by carefully planning inventory taking, end-of-year processing and system upgrades.
  • Created AS / 400 incremental and full system backups, handled onsite and offsite tape rotation, monitored hardware and peripherals and maintained OS version levels and PTFs.
  • Worked with vendors and application issues for the ERP system and administered the security application; e.g., identified and implemented a product that protected data from invalid internal and external access.
  • Managed FastFax, SafeNet, ROI, RJS and Vertex to enhance faxing, system safety, credit card processing, document archiving and sales tax collection.
  • Negotiated contracts and resolved issues with vendors that included IBM, Wynne Systems, Byteware, FootPrints, Kisco Information Systems and Pathfinder.
  • Replaced disk drives and fully restored the system of a damaged RAID unit; resulted in keeping downtime to a minimum.

Senior Systems Analyst

US Filter (previously WaterPro Supplies Corp. and Price Brothers Co.)

US Filter acquired WaterPro Supplies Corporation which had previously purchased Price Brothers Company. Selected Achievements

  • As a support team member and individually, maintained 5 AS /400 systems; 1 at corporate and 4 in manufacturing plants located from the East coast to the Gulf Coast. Supported the ERP, payroll and finance systems as well as all other computerized equipment.
  • Retained as a Senior Systems Analyst through 2 corporate acquisitions. Reported to the MIS Manager.
  • Initiated the Mincron ERP application during the first company acquisition and then transitioned to Mincron when the second new owner took charge.
  • Upgraded OS and AS/400 systems at the manufacturing plants and was instrumental in designing and starting up a new cost accounting system for all production facilities.

I have been performing RPG maintenance/development for 20+ years and have been using the IBM Software Toolset for performing those duties.
