Advertising and Marketing Director

Texas Lawyer (American Lawyer Media)

After graduating from Louisiana State University, I relocated to Dallas, Texas and joined Texas Lawyer as a classified advertising and law firm advertising representative.  After one year, I moved to Austin and opened a new business office / news bureau for the company.  Two years later, I moved to Houston to manage all aspects of law firm advertising sales for Texas Lawyer's largest market and supervised two additional salespeople.

In 1993, I was asked to return to Dallas to serve as a Law Firm Marketing and Advertising Director for certain aspects of Texas Lawyer's business.  I was eventually named the Marketing and Advertising Director for all operations and supervised a staff of seven salespeople, three support staff, one graphic designer, and two  marketing support specialists.  In my role, I developed revenue and expense budgets, conducted sales training, developed sales forecasts, developed new client prospects, created marketing and sales materials, launched new law firm marketing programs, interviewed existing clients, and shared new ideas and initiatives with "sister" newspapers across the U.S.  I also worked closely with the publisher, managing editor, CFO, reporters, circulation managers, and administrative staff.
