Steve Blalock of Marshall, MO, has enjoyed a long career in the seed industry. From 1977 to 1987, he worked as head of sales of Cargill, Inc.’s Nutrena Seed Division, a position where he managed a 12-person team. From there, Steve Blalock went on to found his own company, Mid-State Seed, Inc., located in Marshall, MO.
Since founding Mid-State Seed in 1987, he has remained very much involved in the company’s day-to-day operations. He proactively works to make his business more efficient by observing employees and performing hands-on activities. Thanks in part to Stephen Blalock’s efforts, his company has been recognized as an Outstanding Employment Opportunity by the Center for Human Services.
While not working at Mid-State Seed, Stephen Blalock is an active member of his community. He contributes to various charitable efforts, including the YMCA Strong Kids campaign. For this effort, he has been recognized as part of the President’s Circle from 2009 through 2013. Other organizations he has supported include the Fitzgibbon Cancer Center and Lyceum Theater in Arrowrock, Missouri.
