Zrak Systems, LLC

Zrak Systems, LLC develops environmental monitoring systems for a cleaner, more efficient world. Zrak Systems LLC also engages in general electrical engineering consulting, specializing in embedded systems design.

  • Zrak Systems LLC was the key contractor in a project to design a unique anemometric system to monitor air flow entering the inlet of a land-based power generator. Under this project, I designed and programmed a closely coordinated system containing 15 embedded controllers to provide processed data ready for real time feed into the power plant's data collection system.

Vitesse Semiconductor / Sitera, Inc.

By connecting engineering, marketing, and the customer, I translated Vitesse products into customer solutions.

I crafted solutions by:

  • meeting on-site with customers to understand their needs
  • working in the customers' labs to troubleshoot their embedded applications
  • helping customers get their product designs out the door and into production
  • training customer engineers on how to use our products and development tool-kits
  • supporting products for Gigabit Ethernet, SONET, SAS, SATA, Fibre Channel, and Video Switching
  • satisfying customers including IBM, Intel, Thomson, Infineon, Dot Hill, Microsoft, ZTE and ETRI
1993 - 1999

Senior Engineer

Revitalized Company's product line to recapture declining market, and executed engineering design of custom applications for government, military, and research agencies.

Design diversity demanded many disciplines of electrical and computer engineering, including:

Codar Inc.

Developed CPU-based system for monitoring enclosure environments and system power usage, with attention to electronic emissions and vibration effects on electrical designs.

Member Technical Staff II

Rockwell International

Designed the "Common Controller ASIC" regulating all electrical distribution equipment  used aboard the International Space Station.

In connection with the design of the "Common Controller ASIC", 

  • wrote the firmware executing on the ASIC
  • built the "Firmware Development Lab," including designing the lab, environment, and test gear to support testing and validation of ASIC function
  • demonstrated ASIC capability to astronauts, NASA officials, and members of US Congress
  • received two NASA Technology Utilization Awards
1978 - 1984

Missile Technician Petty Officer 2nd Class

Protected, maintained and repaired ballistic nuclear weapons.
