Stephen M. Black enrolled at the University of Edinburgh in 1982 to complete his undergraduate studies. He graduated with honors in 1986 with his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology, and then stayed at the University of Edinburgh to pursue his medical degree. Stephen M. Black obtained his Ph. D. in Molecular Pharmacology in 1990.
