Nearly a century ago, Stephen Borg's great-grandfather, John Borg, purchased a New Jersey newspaper named "The Evening Record," and renamed it "The Record." Four generations later, Stephen Borg serves as publisher for "The Record," which has become the second largest daily newspaper in New Jersey and a winner of numerous awards, including "Best Newspaper in the State." As publisher, Borg is involved in not only the paper’s daily editorial duties, but also expense and revenue. In addition to his work at "The Record," Stephen Borg also serves as president of New Jersey Media Group (NJMG), an independent and family-owned media company whose publications encompass not only "The Record" and "Herald News" daily newspapers, but also more than 40 community newspapers and a family of glossy magazines, including the unprecedented "(201)." Under Borg’s leadership, NJMG employs over a thousand individuals and produces all its own publications, as well as several others in its state-of-the-art printing facility. While Stephen Borg was exposed to the family media business from an early age, his formal education began when he attended prestigious Ivy League school Dartmouth, where he received his degree in English. Shortly thereafter, he also earned a degree in finance from Columbia University's business school. Before returning home to New Jersey and NJMG, Borg honed his experience as Account Executive at Blair Television, a private media corporation in Dallas, Texas. Currently, in his free time away from NJMG and “The Record,” Borg enjoys playing goalie for the Englewood Field Club hockey team and volunteering for charities including the Arnold Gold Foundation, Englewood Community Chest, and the Palisades Park Conservancy.
