Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology focuses on designing and utilizing mechanical devices, components and products. Graduates are well-rounded technologists able to pursue careers in a wide variety of industries. They receive theoretical and practical training in machine design, fabrication, engineering materials, and 3-D solid modeling. They are also trained in such areas as fluid power, thermodynamics and engineering economics.
  • Second-year I have participated in a major hands-on design project. Graduates can choose from a great variety of careers in product design, application engineering, design/drafting, technical sales, manufacturing engineering, plant engineering and technical inspection. Mechanical engineering technologists are involved in almost every sector of the economy including manufacturing, oil and gas, utilities and construction.
  • This program was nationally accredited by the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT). I have a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation after my  first two years of work experience.
