Chief Project Officer | Officiating Principal(2013-14)

Shoshit Samadhan Kendra, Patna

SSK is a fully-funded English medium residential school for the children from the poorest of the poor Musahar community. Currently, SSK supports 340 students.

Role description:

  • Managed critical processes of admission, examination, healthcare, student counselling, campus development, yearly school activity planning
  • Led a team of 30; designed their roles and responsibilities, conducted performance assessments
  • Taught English, Science, Maths, Economics from grade IV up to grade XII
  • Led Alumni engagement programs and oversaw higher education of students
  • Developed planning and budgeting proposals as per school's requirements and for smooth transitioning into SSK's new building
  • Represented SSK at key conferences, seminars and led PR initiatives via-newsletters, social media, website management
  • Managed the recruitment of teaching and managerial staff

Change initiatives:

  • Worked on all-round development of students and managed several student-life improvement initiatives-mentorship program, library development, student-led interest clubs, national educational tours, intra school events and formation of democratic structures like the student council
  • Planned and executed professional development workshops for staff
  • Managed SSK's volunteer and internship program; led an 8 month long Experiential Learning Module for a YIF team(won the Best ELM award)
  • Partnered with Teach for India and several reputed colleges for the first time ever for staff recruitment
  • Managed new hire induction programs; incorporated a feedback program for employees
  • Worked as the Secretary of the Academic Council and partnered with different organisations for introducing student learning assessments, implementation of technology, computer education and theatre sessions
  • Liaised with several schools and institutions in Patna for student exposure and outside classroom education
  • Conducted visits to 30 Musaharis (ghettoes where Musahars live) to understand SSK’s impact and wrote strategy papers on how to increase the impact
  • Inspired student teams to plan and execute community development programs (short term interventions like basic education, health & hygiene awareness and sanitation) and helped them develop their leadership skills

  • Co-founded an initiative to conductexperiential learning programs for school students(gradesIX-XII) that helped them in making informed career decisions
  • Conducted career orientation sessions and panel discussions for 1, 200 school students in Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad
  • Partnered with professionals from 18 diverse fields and organized field visits to leading companies
  • Supervised 20 interns working across fields such as marketing, curriculum development, and business development
